Regice's PoV
I watched the rain splatter on the ground, forming puddles. I thought about how miserable you must be today, for rain rusts your armor.
Rain makes my icy armor stronger, but rusts your steel. I wish you could feel its coolness on your armor without having to worry. I wish you could come out on rainy days and stare at the majestic clouds with me. But I can only wish, nothing more. Unless…
"I am not going outside!" you whispered, not wanting Regirock to hear. "Are you out of your mind? I've never been outside in the rain and probably never will."
"Well now, the word 'probably' is just the word I wanted to hear," I said. "Come on."
I pulled you along behind me. You grumbled something about your armor being weak for the next few decades.
Once outside of the cave, I circled around so that you were in front of me and I could see you. Beads of water rolled down your protective shell in waterfalls.
The bad part though, was that your armor was turning orange much quicker than I had anticipated. Once that rust got to your heart…
"Oh no," I whispered as I watched the lights that were your eyes go out, one by one. Your legs and feet welded themselves to the ground. You were a lifeless, rusted statue, no more than that.
I sank to the ground, where I too, became merged with the ground, though I remained forever alive, and you, forever dead. I watched for eternity, and never, not even once, did your eyes light up. For eternity, I thought of you. What would have happened between us, had you still been alive?
I watched Regirock wail and I watched others come to comfort him. Had anything happened between any of them?
It was five hundred years before I realized that I loved you, and that I still did. It was yet another five hundred years before I understood why I was still alive.
"Love… n-never die-ies," I croaked the words out and, as I watched, I saw your eyes some to life. I watched the rust fade away. And I heard you melodic voice echo me:
"Love never dies."
