Cloud sighed and once again shifted on the bed, causing the woman he loved in the next bed over to stir slightly. Inhaling a breath, he slowly got up, not wanting to wake her.

To his disappointment, the floor creaked. Loudly.

Tifa sprang out of bed and into a fighting stance, somewhat startling Cloud. He looked at her sheepishly when she lowered her fists, seeing no danger.

"Cloud?" Her voice was laced with exhaustion and drowsiness and he felt guilty for making a move to walk downstairs.

"I... can't sleep." He told her when he saw her beautiful mahogany eyes shining in his direction.

You see, things were somewhat awkward between the two of them. Just a week previous, Cloud had given Tifa a pearl necklace for her birthday, to match her earrings, and she kissed him and whispered a gentle thank you.

However, it wasn't overly romantic, seeing as Denzel and Marlene decided to burst through the door, covered in mud from a game of "Battle of the mud pies!".

They never discussed the kiss after that and though his brain said he wanted to keep it that way, his heart disagreed one hundred percent.

Tifa sighed and walked over to his bed and sat down. "Do you need help?"

His eyes widened slightly and he looked up at her quickly, noticing that she didn't really censor her affectionate actions, from lack of sleep.

Not waiting for an answer, Tifa gently pulled Cloud down on his bed. She was now facing left with her head on his chest and her left hand running through his spikes. Cloud closed his eyes and sighed peacefully. Tifa's touch was so soothing, and the way her fingernails were gently making their way through his hair was surprisingly relaxing.

He shifted his face toward Tifa after hearing her soft voice break through the air. Her eyes were closed but she had a small, delicate blush on her face, causing the knot in his stomach to tighten. Cloud had only heard Tifa sing once: Her piano lessons when she was six. Yes, he had looked shyly through his window to hear her.

Her voice was like a feather, brushing the most softest of skins. It was the colorful leaves in the fall, dancing in the wind. It was the stars lighting the sky with hopes for a tomorrow. It was- to put it simply,- beautiful.

Cloud's mind started to slowly unwind. He timidly, and cautiously, adjusted himself so he was lightly rubbing his fingers over her arm. He felt her shiver and threw the blanket over her, fully embracing the new wave of comfort this sleeping arrangement was.

Tifa opened her heavy lids, her voice fading into a low hum and saw Cloud's mako eyes closed, his breathing evened out. Smiling tiredly, she snuggled deeper within his chest, and listened to his slow even breaths, lulling her to sleep.

She had her own lullaby's that she cherished.
