Disclaimer: Nope, still don't own Teen Titans.

Auspicious

Beast Boy kept staring across the table at them.

The pyro and the Kiwi didn't seem to notice, sitting comfortably together, hands entwined and listening—apparently attentively—to the Titans Network briefing. Beast Boy had tuned out long ago, starting around the point when Robin had started talking about crime statistics in each team's respective cities. He was saying something about the coverage in the southeast hemisphere now, but Beast Boy couldn't hear a thing, preoccupied as he was with something he'd noticed about the two Titans Oceanic members.

His eyes narrowed suspiciously. He glanced around the table to see if anyone else had noticed.

Several long minutes passed and the changeling was unable to stop the questions from burning at the forefront of his brain, growing like a painful itch. He was going to go mad if he didn't say something.

He glared at Argent, lasering his eyes at her face.

She was oblivious.

Finally, he couldn't stand it anymore.

"Okay seriously!" he burst out, interrupting Robin mid-sentence. He gestured with agitated motions. "Isn't it bothering anyone else?!" he asked.

Several confused pairs of eyes turned towards him. Robin himself blinked slowly, more bewildered and perplexed than annoyed by Beast boy's outburst.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"What's bothering you, B?" said Cyborg, from the changeling's other side.

"Them!" Beast Boy cried, jabbing a finger towards a very confused Argent and Hot Spot.

That just confused the other Titans more.

"What about them?" grumbled Speedy.

Beast Boy's mouth dropped. "Seriously? No one else noticed it?" he repeated.

"Noticed what?" inquired Starfire politely, tilting her head.

"Spit out whatever complaint you've got about us already, jeez," Hot Spot muttered, squeezing Argent's hand a little tighter, pointedly.

Beast Boy began sputtering, unable to form a complete thought, gawping and waving his hands madly. "They're—they've got—how am I the only—they're—"

"Dating? Yeah, have been for some time," Robin snarked, traces of irritation starting to creep into his tone.

"Not that!" Beast Boy snapped. His agitated energy could no longer be contained by his seat so he sprang up to his feet, waving around the crowded table, the eyes of all the other Titans following his wide gestures. "Has no one else but me noticed what they're wearing on their hands?!" he cried, voice shrill.

He rounded on Hot Spot and Argent.

"What—" he cried, jabbing a finger towards their clasped hands, "—are those?!"

"Hmm?" Argent glanced down at her left hand. Spying the simple silver band adorning her ring finger, things clicked into place inside her head and comprehension dawned over her expression. Well of course that would be what all the hullabaloo was about. "Oh that," she said.

She shrugged.

"We got married," she explained simply.

There was a long frozen moment of complete silence.

Beast Boy blinked in shock, twitching back. "Holy cow..." he said quietly.

"Say what?!" Cyborg burst out, blurting the words in disbelief.

"Yeah." Argent nodded, starting to smile from the looks on everyone's faces. Raven's eyes had widened slightly and Robin, Cyborg, and half of Titans East was staring at them dumbstruck. Starfire had lit up and was vibrating, eyes delighted, holding in her glee. Her own teammates had no reaction—they'd known of course—and the rest of the Titans just sat there blankly. "Ran into each other on patrol in Kitakyushu and just decided to get it done. Took a bit t' figure out how to do it—there was a right bit more paperwork involved than we realized—but we've signed the certificate and we 'ad a little private ceremony in a pretty little shrine and... yeah. We're married," she finished.

Another long pregnant pause.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Starfire exploded with a high-pitched squeal, throwing herself across the table to clasp Argent's hands, floating excitedly.

"Oh my friend you must tell me everything!" she gushed.

"I wanna hear this story too, move over Fish Legs," Bumblebee said, shoving past Aqualad and making her way around the table.

The room dissolved into a flood of chaotic noise. Kole and Más and Menos maneuvered over to the happy couple as well, excited questions spilling over each other. Several of the boys leaned back in their seats, clapping and hooting congratulations.

Bushido was outraged.

"I was right there!" he yelled, indignant. "I was literally two hundred miles north from you! I could have been a witness! You never once thought to give me a call?!" He broke off into a string of angry Japanese, his arms swinging in sharp motions as he ranted.

Wildebeest grunted apologetically, putting up his hands.

"Did you know about this?" Aqualad asked Herald, looking quizzically across the table.

"Well... they never actually said anything," he admitted.

They came back with the rings on and we kind of just figured, Jericho added.

"Who asked who?" piped Kid Flash, zipping over to stand at Hot Spot's shoulder. "Did you ask her, did she ask you, was it a mutual thing? Spill the deets Hotshot."

"I asked." Hot Spot thought a moment and then amended, "I mean, not in so many words, like, I didn't actually say 'Will you marry me?', we just sort of finished dinner and were talking about what to do next and I said, 'Hey, you wanna drop by the courthouse and make it official?'"

"Romantic as a wet sponge, I see," Jinx snarked from her seat across the way.

Hot Spot popped up with a glare, tendrils of fire shooting up behind his head.

"Oh shush," Argent waved off, gently tugging his sleeve to stop him. "It was adorable."

Kid Flash grinned. "Well let me be the first to offer you many happy years to come," he said, pulling Hot Spot in for a handshake and bear hug. The two boys pounded each other's backs and then Kid Flash stepped back, pointedly elbowing a flushed, red-faced Robin in the ribs.

Robin managed to pull himself together, taking in a careful breath. "Yeah uh... congratulations," he strained. He turned his eyes down, coughing. "Way to make me look bad," he grumbled under his breath.

Hot Spot sidled up to the Boy Wonder, slinging a conspiratorial arm around his shoulder. "Aww that's an easy fix, Robin," he told the boy, whispering in aside to him. He winked towards Starfire, who was listening raptly to Argent's account of the garden around the shrine. "You just gotta ask her."

Robin groaned miserably, clawing both hands over his face.

Bushido emerged from his long string of furious Japanese to complain, "This is twice now that Titans have hooked up in my home country and I've missed it!"

Argent was rubbing her cheek sheepishly. "Sorry Bushido. It was kind of an impulse decision?"

That just set him off again, but his pointed curses were drowned out by the questions and congratulations swirling around them.

"Caused quite a ruckus didn't we?" Argent chuckled.

"That we did," laughed Hot Spot in agreement. "I didn't think we'd ever hear the end of Robin's lecture." He scooted forward a bit on the rooftop edge, dangling his legs. "Uptight little hypocrite."

Argent leaned her head comfortably on his shoulder. "Think half of it was him regurgitating everything the Bat must've told him."

"And the other half?"

She grinned. "Embarrassed that we beat him to the punch and got married before he and Starfire did."

Hot Spot wound an arm around her shoulders. "In his defense, I don't have as many hangups about relationships as he probably does."

Argent's face grimaced in sympathy. "Oh the poor dear. I feel bad for 'im."

"Ah, he'll take the plunge eventually," Hot Spot dismissed.

They fell quiet, letting the soft ocean breeze play in their hair. The early afternoon sun glittered off the waves, reflections dancing off the face of the Tower.

They sat for a minute, enjoying the quiet.

"I'm glad we did it," Argent said, speaking up. "I haven't felt so confident of a decision I've made in ages."

"Not regretting doing a big wedding and making it a whole deal?" he teased.

She waved a hand. "Eh, a bit. Would've liked to have a photographer at least. And maybe a more traditional dress." She lifted her head, shifting to face him. "But the important thing is that it's done." She gave a cheeky grin. "An' now you're stuck with me."

He rubbed her forearm affectionately. "No one else I'd rather be stuck with," he told her, surprisingly serious.

Light red dusted her cheeks.

"Sap."

His playful smile was back.

"Learned from the best," he quipped.

They leaned in for a sweet kiss, lingering in the contact for a long moment.

Argent's head returned to his shoulder and they nestled together, watching the sea rise and fall in complete contentment.
