An Omission of Error

"Let him not put his hope in what is false, falling into error: for he will get deceit as his reward" Job 15:31

When she first came to this place, its beauty was just as poignant as it was now. Myu was not sure if she had perished, or was simply dreaming, but she cared little about either possibility. If she were not already dead, she would gladly become so to remain here, this perfect world where the water was tasteless and the sunshine cold.

However, Myu grew lonely after a while, for the other animals would have nothing to do with her. This unsettled her at first - was she such terrible company? - until she realized their versions of Paradise were probably a little bit different than hers, and in all likelihood they did not include a predatory cat.

Then Kiba came, a body of white splendor, and Myu liked him immediately. She felt honored when in his presence; in life (or in wakefulness, she still knew not which) she had never seen a wolf. She would've liked to, for here she could see what interesting creatures they were, and Kiba was the most interesting example of his species.

"I never told anyone these things, not my pack, not even Cheza."

Myu sighed with elation to have so quickly earned that place in his heart, that of friend, confidant, maybe sweetheart. Had someone been there before? Even so, she was there now.

"Kiba," she began softly on one of the many days they shared together. "I think our Paradises are the same."

He left her later that day, or that year, or perhaps that century, following the voice of a girl. Myu realized how inaccurate her previous statement had been - his Paradise consisted of a girl that was not Myu and perfection that was not fake.

She stayed by the lake for a long time, and began to wonder just what that fuzzy white image in her memory could be.
