Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.

A Child No More

A child no more.

His eyes tell his tale

Of heartbreak and horrors

He shall never share.

The hollowness

Is not what I truly fear.

It is the acceptance

That he deserves

No better.

Deserves

No happiness.

Has no one else seen him

For who he truly is?

Have the rumors shaped

his fate?

Has the mask he molded,

Hidden him so well?

He laughs

And plays.

The role-

He plays it well.

He plays the part of child

But his eyes tell no lies.

Innocence lost.

A child no more.

Poet's Note, Explanation, and Interpretation: I only write poetry every so often. This poem wasn't actually about Harry Potter when I first wrote it, but it seemed to work out that way in the end. The poem can go many ways in interpretation, but for me, the poem is about Harry. With the abuse he's gone through because of the Dursleys (the acceptance that he deserves no better) , the rumors he constantly faces (Have the rumors shaped his fate?), and the war in general, I think he would have formed a sort of mask as to how to act, or at the very least how to hide the abuse. (Has the he mask he molded, hidden him so well?) So, in many ways he would act like a child or pretend to still be his age (the role-he plays it well) But he had lost his childhood (innocence) long ago. I know I never outright say anything about Harry in the poem, but that's because this situation also applies to many characters in the series. (cough, Draco Malfoy, cough). Please review. I appreciate all reviews (except flames.) If you don't like it, please give constructive criticism, don't flame.
