Teddy or James aren't mine, and I make no money from this.
A/N: In the first one Teddy is about 24 and James 17 or 18. In second and third ones they're little older.
Three times when Teddy wonders about James.

First time

Teddy wonders if James leaves him someday.
It's so hard to hide the yearning - that is right, he, Teddy Lupin, isyearning! - he feels everytime it's time for James to leave, and it doesn't matter whether he is going to home or date or - the worst of them all - back to Hogwarts.
But Teddy has no intentions to let James understand it's not his friendship Teddy wants. Not yet, at least. So he smiles bravely and waves James off and goes to bed and buries his head to the pillows tiredly.
Tomorrow he might see James again, hear stories about his newest girl or what Al did yesterday to piss his brother off, or Teddy might have a chance to write him a letter or even to have one from James himself.
He knows there is no need to worry. James'll always be there for him.

Second time

Teddy wonders if James knows.
Lately, little too often he has noticed how James seems oddly reserved around him. He still tells jokes and laughs with him, but his laugh is little too high to be real and he is obviously feeling uncomfortable. He seems to avoid touching Teddy, and Teddy can't help feeling dirty and impure.
He tries to act like he hasn't noticed anything weird in the situation, and goes on the way he used to, even though it's so hard.
One day Lily comes to see him, takes a tight grip from his hand and tells why James exactly has been so different. She has a cold and she sneezes through the conversation and her nose is swelled and very bright red, but Teddy thinks she must be the most beautiful thing in the whole world.

Third time
x
Teddy wonders if this is too good to be true.
After Lily's intervention he waited for week, two, three, not quite believing that it might be possible. And the day he had finally decided that Lily must have been wrong, James appears on his doorstep and two minutes later Teddy is the happiest man alive.
He makes a mental note to thank Lily tomorrow about everything. But today he has no time, because James is finally there and Teddy has been waiting for him for so, so many years.
