I've been suffering from a serious case of writers block lately! This story has been on my computer(unfinished) for a while so I decided to edit and finish it, so here it is!
Disclaimer: I don't own Deidara or Tobi, Masashi Kishimoto does!
Tobi remembers a question Deidara asked him before he died. They had been sitting on a grassy hill near the Akatsuki base, it was late in a hot summer afternoon and the cicadas were singing around them.
"Tobi un"
"Yes sempai?"
"What would you consider a masterpiece?"
Tobi was surprised; the question had come out of nowhere, how was he supposed to know?
"Why do you want to know?"
"Just wondering un…"
Tobi hesitated, thinking carefully, before replying.
"Tobi thinks that a masterpiece is some thing really beautiful that will stay around forever and no matter what other things of its kind are created nothing will ever measure up to the beauty of the first one"
"Un…"
Tobi though for a moment.
"What do you think sempai?"
Deidara seemed to contemplate Tobi's question for a moment.
"A masterpiece is something that changes the way we look at art, it goes out with a bang and takes everything, including the artist, with it, and when it's done it leaves a permanent scar upon the earth, just to show that it was there, and that nothing will ever be like it again. Unrepeatable, unchangeable, truly fleeting art un."
"Tobi doesn't think that explosions count sempai…"
"I'll pretend that you didn't just say that…"
Tobi paused to reflect on what Deidara had just said to him.
"So your version of a masterpiece would be a huge explosion sempai?"
"Not just an explosion, a true work of art! It's not like you would understand anyways Tobi, because you are not an artist…"
"Tobi may not be an artist, but Tobi is a good boy!"
"Hmm..."
Tobi turned to look at Deidara.
"Sempai?"
"Yes Tobi un?"
"Tobi doesn't want to offend you, but Tobi truly does hope that Deidara sempai never creates a real masterpiece."
Tobi couldn't help but notice when Deidara failed to reply.
And the cicadas sung softly in the fading summer light.
Reviews would be really appreciated, but no flames please!!!!!!
