Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate SG-1. I just own what I write. Y'know, my original ideas and all that fun stuff.
Author's Note: This was written for a very dear friend of mine. Becca, you asked for this pairing like... a year ago, and that's when I wrote it, but I decided to post it here for fun. It's just a drabble. I like it a lot, actually... and I hope you people do as well. This was just a bit of fun for a bored writer during a time when I couldn't think of anything. This takes place around Season Seven, maybe mid-season.

Colonel Jack O'Neill would never be able to understand what exactly it was about Daniel Jackson that intrigued him so much. The man was a research-obsessed, insubordinate son of a bitch in Jack's eyes. He spent more time with his nose in a book and a cup of coffee in his hand than General Hammond spent on reports! Yet for being a bookworm, the scientist had proven many times that he would look out for the other members of SG-1.

Jack blew out a long breath as he folded his hands behind the back of his head and leaned back in his office chair. A small smile played at his lips. How many times had it been that Daniel had died for the others? How many times had he figured something out that would eventually save the world, or worlds, as the case may sometimes be.

Daniel Jackson was a mystery to Jack. He had spunk, he had his opinions and he would defend them to his dying day – days. That man sure seemed to die a lot. Jack could remember each and every time that Daniel had died on him. Yet the man always came back.

Always.

Jack couldn't help smiling wider at the thought.
