Disgustingly Perfect
He's smart, athletic, has a great personality and is stunningly gorgeous.
Kei Takishima is absolutely perfect.
Right?
---
Sometimes, Kei wonders what the people around him think of him.
Actually, scratch that.
To be perfectly honest, he couldn't care less about what that incompetent, baby of a father thought of him.
And it's not as though he really minds how those idiots at school (and in the business world, for that matter) feel about him.
No, the only thing he cares about is how she thinks of him.
How Hikari thinks of him.
But, thinking about it stresses him out and makes him lose his composure.
It gives him headaches.
It makes him 'uncool.'
And Kei Takishima does not do 'uncool.'
He can't help it, though.
She penetrates through his mind.
So he thinks about her anyway.
What if she thinks he's some kind of freak?
He knows that she has been trying so hard to beat him (to no avail) ever since the day they met.
And endless effort isn't exactly something he's very used to, unless of course, you count his attempts at courting the oblivious girl (also, to no avail).
He's sure he'll never know how she truly feels.
Or if she feels anything at all.
He laughs bitterly.
He's a 'genius', but he still can't understand her.
He doesn't think he ever will.
And he doesn't want to.
---
He walks into his Sui's room.
It's by sheer luck that she became roped into being his brother's tutor.
It makes him angry and elated at the same time.
Well, he's never seen much of his brother; and has had even fewer opportunities to develop a loving bond with him.
He blames his father for their estranged relationship.
After all, he's never stayed home longer than a week due to all the business trips his father has forced him to go on.
But, for once in his life, Kei Takishima is wrong.
It's not his father's fault at all.
It's his.
"You're just a robot wearing human skin! Living with you is disgusting! I hate you!"
He feels a stab of pain.
The words repeat in his head.
Twisting and morphing themselves like a game of Chinese whispers until he can't even remember what was actually said.
I hate you!
She hates you...
Hikari hates you...
"I know..."
Sui quickly masks his look of shock by changing it into one of anger.
He runs out of the room.
Rejection.
He starts to ramble, mostly to himself, barely aware that Hikari is still present; he shows the philosophical side he never knew he had.
As usual, it's Hikari who snaps him out of his daze and, as tactless as they are, her words make him love her even more.
"You may be infuriating, but you're not disgusting. So relax."
She also runs out of the room.
This time, though, he doesn't feel as though he's been cast aside.
Rather, he feels as though he's been forgiven; for what, though, he doesn't know.
He just knows he has a second chance.
He smiles.
