About twelve and a half years ago, Castlevania 2 released on the Wii Virtual Console, and I was able to play it for the first time since I was a kid. I had a lot of fun with it, despite its flaws. I always thought the narrative of it was pretty good, and I wanted to novelize the story to do it justice.

On February 2, 2009, I posted the fifth chapter of this story, and that was the last thing I wrote for many years. I simply fell out of writing, and despite multiple attempts, I've never been able to do it the way I did back then.

I had various ideas for this story. Most notably that the spirit that visited Simon's dream would be revealed to be Death in disguise, and the whole thing was set up by Dracula for fun. Looking back, I'm not sure how I feel about that idea, but that's what it was.

In any event, my thanks to those who read this story, and my apologies to those who looked forward to more.
