Unbelievable News

He just couldn't believe it was happening to him; after all the years he'd spent planning and working, to have it turn out like this. He plopped down into his honey brown recliner

chair. Pulling the wooden handle, he leaned back his chair letting his mind wonder away from the pale, pale gold of the ceiling, past the black title roof, back into the past. His face

that was set into a frown gentled, as he let his mind go back; back to the beginning, to when he'd first met her. There at the door she watched him, they'd been together for almost

fourteen years, and not once had she seen that look on his face, and that worried her.

His face again went from calm and serene to line in his brow, the past quickly fast forwarding to the news he'd just heard. He'd met her on a train, a scared child of twelve and

he a few months older. She was being picked on and he knew that wasn't right; sizing up the situation he felt he could help, so he went to her rescue. The boys were older than

him, but he took them on and when the train stopped only he and her came off.

It was ironic really that a situation starting on a train would make his life up till now, the happiest of his life; only to have another situation on a train destroy it all. Slowly the

realization dawned on him, they'd lost the baby, but he'd only been thinking about himself; what about her? He quickly got up from the recliner and headed for the door, only to

notice she was there, finally looking her in the eyes, he let the tears fall, hugging her close to his heart, and rescuing her again.
