Lindsay stood outside on the corner waiting for Danny; he was inside the deli getting their dinner. She was hungry and had craving for salami, but the smell of the deli made her sensitive stomach flop.
"Lin-Lin?" a male voice said.
Slowly looking to the voice, nobody's called me that since collegeshe thought. "Todd?" to her surprise Lindsay turned around to look at the face of Todd Stevens, her college ex-boyfriend.
Before she could react Todd had his arms wrapped around her, almost putting to much pressure on her swollen abdomen. His hands kind of started wandering south, making Lindsay a little uncomfortable. She tried to squirm away but he was holding to tight.
She started to push him off, when Danny came out carrying dinner. What the hell? Coming out into the sidewalk, seeing his fiancée struggle to get out of someone arms, did not sit well with him. AT ALL. Dropping the sac he ran up to the guy and pushed him off her, "You got a problem?!" He's lucky all he got so far was just a shove back.
Dropping the guy from his mind for a second he turns and looks at Lindsay, "Montana, baby, are you okay?"
She holds her belly for a minute, trying to catch her breath. "Yeah, I'm okay. I just… he was squeezing me to hard…"
"LinLin, are you okay?" Todd asks, he didn't mean to hurt her; he was just so shocked to see her. He had always thought someday that they would get married but she had broken up with him and graduated before he got the chance to talk about those things with her. He tried to go to her but the tall guy with glasses who through him back glared at him and it sounded like he growled.
"Danny, it's okay. I'm fine. Todd, I'm fine." She reassured them both.
"LinLin, I didn't mean to hurt you, I just hot excited is all," he explained, he wanted to go near her again, but the glare came again. Who was this guy? "Who are you?" he finally asked.
Before Danny could answer, "It's not your fault Todd, you didn't know. I'm pregnant; you just squeezed me to hard. This is Danny Messer," she smiled at Danny, taking his hand, pulling him to her. She loved saying this part, it was as if her heart expanded at the very thought, "My fiancé."
Danny couldn't help but smile down at her, she was beautiful. Hearing her say those words, with so much pride in her voice, made his heart almost leap out of his chest.
"Wow, fiancé, huh? And you're pregnant?" Todd's heart sank, "You're a lucky guy, Danny." Todd stuck his hand out in a gesture of peace.
Oh yeah, him. Danny was brought back as he was spoken too. "Yeah I am, thanks," he agreed, reluctantly shaking his hand, making sure to give a firm squeeze as a warning.
"Todd and I used to date in college," Lindsay informs Danny. It wasn't a big deal to her, nothing serious happened. Danny tensed a little, no wonder it kind of felt like this Todd guy was giving her a visual once over. "So what are you doing here in the City?" Lindsay asks not aware of the tension, brewing between the two men.
"I'm just here on vacation/business," he explained. He felt like walking over to this Danny character and decking him. He had the woman of Todd's dreams on his arm. "What are you two doing here?"
"We live here, we work for NYPD, and we are detectives" she explains. She finds her badge clipped on her side as Danny pushes back his jacket revealing his; he smirked at Todd, as if to say now what's up?
