Sasori wanted to sigh. He wanted to feel the rumble in his chest as air left his lungs and passed over his lips. He wanted everyone to be able to tell how much he wanted to hold the other man, to feel him and care for him. But he was sure that even if he could he wouldn't, he just wasn't that type of person. Puppet. Whatever he was now.

The blonde sat on the couch in the Akatsuki living room, painting his toenails a deep shade of purple and singing along to the music pouring out his head phones. The song quietly left his lips. Some love song. His head bopped to-and-fro slightly with the beat, his hair swaying from side to side. He had taken it out of his usual ponytail.

The puppeteer bit his wooden lip, watching the mesh-shirted man work. This was one of the rare times he still wished he were human. But no, living forever was what he truly wanted- or so he told himself.

"Oh the things that you say, is it live or, just to play my worr-" Deidara felt eyes on his and he blushed. He hated to sing in front of people. He whipped around, "Danna?!" his blush deepened. "What are you doing here, un? Weren't you talking to Pein-sama, un?"

Sasori had tried to retreat when Deidara stopped, but he was caught. He tried to swallow, but had no saliva to do so, so the wood in his throat just rubbed together uncomfortably. He stepped out into the room. "Oh, yeah, he couldn't see me. Konan said her reason for seeing him was more important." He leaned against the back of the couch, his back to his partner. "Does Itachi know you're using his nail polish?"

Deidara removed his bulky head set and continued to paint. "I don't care what Uchiha says, un. All he'll do is bitch, un."

"Have I told you today how annoying your speech impediment is?" a total lie, but he couldn't let Deidara know that he thought it was cute. And, in his mind, if he didn't remind the other on a daily basis, then he would figure it out.

"Have I told you today how annoying your face is, un?!" Deidara snapped. All the friendliness was gone from him. So easily Sasori had jumped to the other artist's bad side. Deidara scowled as he continued to paint.

The words stung Sasori's heart, the only part of him that wasn't made of solid wood. He cracked the joints in his neck before he turned around; gathering up the courage to say what he'd been trying to say for months. "Deidara I think I love you!" But the ex-sand nin had already placed his head set back on and turned the volume up all the way. Sasori stood in utter embarrassment for a few minutes. Praying to any god, even Hidan's, that no one had heard him say that.

Sasori quickly exited the room. He'd try again tomorrow.
