For Kat, because she asked (and hun, do you have any idea how difficult it is to write a story when you know absolutely nothing about how the two characters interreact with one another), and she had better love me because of it.
Small spoilers for "A Better World" if you don't get it, well, sorry, I didn't either at first and had to look up the episode. Now I wanna watch it though... Sigh.
Disclaimer: I own nothing of or pertaining to Justice League Unlimited.
And thank you very much thepennameboo... See? I told you I didn't know much about the characters, sorry about that... Red hair huh? Though I suppose I shoulda checked. Well, thanks again! Very much!
A pen scratches paper. Figures, equations, already inked on the page, and a pause, a long one… Not the first… A laughing face, quick to smile, to forgive, a voice that was both loud and soothing.
Streaks of fire red and yellow.
The pen falls, and Bruce sighs. Obviously he won't be getting any more work done, but he has to try. He needs the distraction so he can just stop thinking about it, about him, and how close he came to loosing him.
Because though he loathes to admit it, that man, Flash, is one of the main reasons he's stuck around, why they all have. Because he's so cheerful, and can make anyone laugh (or at least amused), and can dispel any fight in a second with a quick quip. And he saw that haunted look on his what-could-have-been future self, and he knows just how much he stood to lose, what he almost did loose. And it scared him more than he would likely ever admit (except maybe to Wonder Woman because she's too damn perceptive) when he saw Flash flicker away…
Soon, a summons comes, and he dresses to meet with the League.
"Bats!" And there he is of course. He probably arrived before everyone else. In fact, no one else was here.
"Umm…There's no one else coming…" The redhead flinched. "I'm really sorry but I think I screwed something up cause I'm supposed to be on guard duty but the security system won't stop beeping and I really don't know how to fix it, and…" Flash took a deep breath and looked at him with puppy-dog eyes. "Fix it? Please? …Pretty please?"
And Batman sighed, but did as he was asked (or begged, he thought with a smirk) just because it was Flash…
And he could never say no to Flash.
Not exactly my best work, but I hope you like it Kat!
...Seriously, soooooo hard.
