"It's cold."

"Stop bitching."

"Sorry."

Silence.

"It's getting dark out."

"Shut up."

"Sorry."

More silence.

"What are you doing?"

"My hand's cold."

"You've got gloves on."

"Yeah, I know."

"So... you're just..."

"Yeah."

"Well... you could have just ASKED me."

Hidan looked around at the black-haired boy with a smirk. "I know," He said, tilting his head slightly. "I'm too much of a pussy for that."

"Ha." Kakuzu smirked as well, putting his free hand into his pocket. "I knew THAT one already."

"Didn't have to say it like that." Hidan looked down at the sand beneath his tennis shoes with a small smile. "Ass."

"Heh." Kakuzu shrugged. "Sorry."

The two walked in silence for a while.

"You don't think this is kind of weird?" Hidan glanced around at Kakuzu, who shook his head.

"Dude- if I did, I wouldn't be doing it."

"Good point. I dunno. Just let me know if it bothers you and I'll let go."

"S'fine."

"Cool."

More silence. Hidan was shivering through his Metallica zip-up, as the cool wind came rolling off of the water. Damn October. It was always so cold around the beach.

Hidan turned his eyes on the playground equipment they were now passing.

"Can we sit down?" He looked around at Kakuzu, who nodded.

"Yea sure." Kakuzu took a seat on one of the swings, the chains clinking slightly as he did so. Hidan sat down on the swing next to him, putting both hands on the chains now and staring at one of his fingerless gloves.

"So... like... were you okay with me doing that?" He glanced around at Kakuzu, who rolled his eyes.

"Hidan... there's nobody here... why would I give a shit?"

"Good point." Hidan slipped off of the swing, turned around, and leaned into it, pressing his hips against the swing's seat and letting his fingers trail onto the slightly damp sand beneath. He rocked himself with his feet for a few minutes, thinking.

"I'm surprised."

"Why?" Hidan looked up, frowning slightly.

"Neh- just surprised at you."

"The fuck did I do?" Hidan tilted his head, raising an eyebrow.

"You know what you did."

"Ah..." Hidan felt himself blush, and looked at the sand again, tracing a shape with his index finger.

"Doesn't that hurt?" Kakuzu poked him in the spine. "Sitting like that?"

"Sure as hell does. My hips hurt." Hidan grumbled, hanging his head slightly.

"Idiot- sit normally, then."

Hidan scrambled back into the normal seated position with an embarassed sigh. "Bastard."

"So mean." Kakuzu smirked at him and poked once more.

Hidan chuckled lightly. "I said I was sorry." He said, looking pointedly away.

They were both silent once more. Until Hidan reached across the space between the two swings and pried Kakuzu's hand away from the chain of his swing and laced his fingers with it.

"My hand's cold again."
