Being one's light
A oneshot about Tifa's dedication to Cloud.
----
People often asked how she could be so dedicated on one person, even if that person was emo, stubborn fool, who couldn't see what he had in front of him. But she merely said every time, "Everyone needs someone to be there for them, and sometimes you need to use force to show them that." and of the sorts, sometimes more, sometimes less, but at the end, she would be there for him, no matter the circumstances. He was in trouble and in a time of need, and she would be his light, until he understood who he was. She would be the light to lead him home after his journey. She would be the constant of his life that he could depend on.
People asked her how she could be so strong about the cause, even if he didn't appreciate it. But she merely said every time, "If it was your friend, wouldn't you do the same?" And even though it seemed like on the surface that he didn't want her there, she knew the truth, to him every attachment was another thing to lose to the darkness, and he didn't want to be hurt anymore. But she knew she was strong enough and would be to make sure that he realized that some care enough for him, which he didn't think he was worthy of care. He secretly was glad that she was always there, that someone would be there to help him, if needed, but he would always depend on himself first, always the chauvinist. A chauvinist, but a brave honorable chauvinist. She knew who he was, but he didn't, so she would be his light until he could find his own light that had been there all along.
People asked her how she could keep going on when people called her desperate and going after a lost cause. But she merely said every time, "I don't care what people call or think of me, as long as I know what I'm going after is worth it, then I'm going to do it." She knew what others called her. She knew that Aerith disliked her some though she often wondered if she remembered. She didn't ask to avoid bring up bad memories if she did, but at the end, if she wanted something to happen, then she would make it happen. If he kept running away, she would follow him until he rid of his darkness. If he ever faltered, she would be there to help him to his feet. She didn't care if she got hurt or died, as long if she could help him, then it was all worth it.
People asked her how she could actually be brave enough to stand up to Sephiroth, one of the strongest men in the world. But she merely said every time, "If I'm not strong enough to stand up to him, then how could I be strong enough to be someone's light?" And even though there was no chance that she could beat him, she would try, and trying is better than running away. She would show him that if she was strong enough to stand up to his darkness, then he could too. And until the day he defeats his darkness and comes back whole again, she would be his light, no matter how long it took.
