Return to New York: What really happened
Leo got a better grip on the sword of Tengu. He gritted his teeth because of all he was feeling. It was hard to walk, let alone stand. The blue wearing ninja felt his ankle even disagree on how he was standing, looking straight at the Shredder. But he knew it was not broken or fractured. Probably only a sprain, thank god.
Many bruises and scrapes covered his body. Leo still couldn't even believe that the dishonorable scum was holding his katana. He then took his chance, jumping as high as he could, with the minor, but painful, wounds littering his body. Shredder took his chance too, and hopped towards the raging turtle.
Leo wanted to make it quick. No way was Splinter going to be lying there, wounded and alone, for too long. On his way in the air, before he made his finishing move, he took a look back to his brothers. Don and Mike were standing there, mouths gaping open and Raph was scowling… Very unusual expressions. With an exception of Raph.
Once he felt the wind blowing at his exposed neck, hearing his own katana slice through the air, coming to kill its own master, Leo lashed out. He made the move quick and skilled, moving as fast as he could. The ninja sliced the sword in his hand towards his enemy's neck, his opponent doing the same. Apparently he wanted a quick end too. He heard the sound of metal against metal, before hearing metal meeting flesh. Just then, he felt white-hot pain filling his senses.
Leonardo and Shredder stood, facing different directions. The turtle heard the enemy's helmet fall to the ground before hearing a thump. But he didn't start cheering like his brothers and the guardians… For his senses were filled with pain. The young ninja then realized that he landed too hard on his ankle, and now was certain it was broken. He reached his hand up and felt the injury his enemy placed upon him. It was a deep slice, cutting into the back of his neck and running all the way down his plastron and especially deep in his side. Shredder must have realized that he couldn't get a clean slice at his neck, so he kept going for another lethally dangerous spot. Leo realized; He was losing too much blood.
His vision was getting fuzzy, and now he was just focused on keeping his weight balanced. But he couldn't even when he tried. The wounded turtle fell to his knees, and had his hand clamped over the profusely bleeding injury to his side.
"LEO!" Mike yelled. Leo smirked to himself, finding the concern amusing. His brothers only cared if he was injured, just because he saved them more than once. Just a couple of months before, Leonardo was at death's door, for the Foot ambushed him. The blue wearing ninja felt himself being lowered to someone's lap and winced as the back of his neck hit the cold concrete of the rooftop. He felt something be wrapped around his ankle and another 'something' be pressed against the stab into his side. Huh…Leo thought, I guess Don IS always prepared…
"Guys, let's get Leo to the lair. These wounds are not fatal… But too much blood loss can kill him. Also, his ankle appears to be broken." Don informed. Leonardo felt himself be lifted up, and then realized that police sirens were going off. They all scrambled into a helicopter and started to fly off. Leonardo heard one thing spoken from Mike before he was consumed by darkness.
"Guys! Splinter's gone!"
Three months later: Leonardo heals and then Search for Splinter takes place.
