Asch thrust his sword deep into the lush earth. He was panting slightly, his dark uniform seemingly unscathed from the battle, though it was literally drenched in blood. He smirked and wiped the residue from his cheek, only managing to smear the mess in even further.
A bush behind him twitched, and he jerked around, the red-stained blade in his hand at once. He waited for another sign, and it came soon enough. The small birdlike monster fluttered out, chirping happily and oblivious to the warrior nearby. It flapped its way out of tree cover, eyes scanning for any unaware prey.
The squawk that rent the air would have made most grit their teeth in pain, but Asch grinned as he cleaned his blade, seeing this as the last one of the flock. He kicked the corpses of the birds that littered the ground, thoroughly satisfied with himself. He'd even managed to kill a few wolves as well—those were far and away more fun than these chirpees, but he took what he could for now. With all that had been going on lately, this was his only way to vent, and he was sure the other Oracle Knights would get onto him if they found him using the more available supply of new recruits as his playthings.
Asch stroked a hand through his lengthy crimson hair. It, too, was bloodstained, but this was unnoticeable as well, as it was the color of blood in the first place. No one would notice, no one would care. It was all just for his own amusement, his own pleasure, but if any of those priests decided to wander outside Daath, they would undoubtedly attempt to bury the vile beasts that were scattered through the field. Those morons.
Asch sighed happily, allowing himself to sit under a nearby tree and relax for a moment. His finely honed instincts as a soldier would never allow such a thing, but now... he felt invincible. He could slay any monster that crossed his path, and so help them Lorelei if they put up a fight in the slightest. A soft breeze worked its way through the rustling leaves, and he closed his eyes, enjoying the calming weather. There was nothing so beautiful as a peaceful afternoon...
