Each and every time he enters the house, he's amazed by how clean it is. He grumbles when he's asked to remove his shoes, and wonders who waxes floors any more anyways, even though he really stopped caring about a month ago.
His image is still important after all.
He follows the other up the stairs in stony silence, as always, though now a part of him fears the other has noticed a change, even if he's sure he hasn't.(A)
At the door to the bedroom he's greeted with a vacuum to his clothes and an antibacterial spray to his face. Through everything, he rolls his eyes and deals with it, and pretends he isn't starting to like the routine, even a little bit, but he'll never get used to Lysol in the face.
Each and every time he stares at the labels pasted to various objects, a place for everything and everything in its place. (B)
He likes to think he's observant, and that's why he notices when there's a new one.
And he sits on the bed, trying to ignore the creeping thought that this is where the other sleeps, as said other bustles around and prepares a study area, muttering to himself in a way that makes Kevin think he doesn't realize that most people find this behavior strange.
He ignores the cactus with a nametag in the corner, and absolutely does not allow the grin that wants to surface show.
Each and every time, he knows what the feelings mean, and the urge to smile at all the little things he's learned about the other in this time, but he refuses to accept them, and he won't show them. He's perfectly content to act oblivious as feelings scream inside, sitting on the bed where the other sleeps, with the cactus the other apparently named, the smell of Lysol following him home, a farewell that seems too friendly for the other's anxiety, and a routine he's gotten used to, but this is where it has to stop.
He doesn't smile when the other approaches him with a wide, nervous grin and points to the problems he has missed, stating the usual "almost, and good, but not quite there yet, I'm afraid" speech, but he knows that his body wants to, and it wants to badly.(C)
He knows he can't smother it forever, and he knows that soon, he'll have to put an end to these visits.
But for now, Kevin simply enjoys the time, while grumbling about how stupid math is, and he doesn't think about that time coming or what this all will eventually mean to him.
And he still doesn't smile.
A) The other is Double D, in case that's hard to tell, and I'm not sure why I keep saying "the other" :T
B) I admit. I first found that saying there in The Haunting, but I like it, and I think it matches Edd's room XD;;
C) Kevin's body wants to SMILE. Just so we're clear on that XD;; :AWESOMEPHAIL:
So one of the only fanfictions I've ever really liked... that was written by me. :) And it's Ed Edd n Eddy slash wouldja lookit that.
I don't normally write this, just so you know, and I haven't uploaded in...months... Just a note. :)
Please R+R if you liked it. I must also ask for no flames. I don't think I've done anything warranting any spectacularly nasty reviews. Or at least, I hope not.
Constructive crit is always welcome though :)
