I should be typing up more of "Birthdays", but the plot bunny bit at 6 o'clock this morning!

150 words exactly.

Hope you like it!

I've been told there are fundamental grammar and spelling mistakes in this. I may be stupid, but I can't spot them. Perhaps someone else would be kind enough to do so for me...

Holes

"Holey, Fred, geddit?"

If you see a photo of our family, and you don't know us, you won't see the biggest hole of all, the one that really matters.

If George has his hair arranged wrong, you'll do a double-take when you realise he has only one ear, and maybe wonder why. You will see the scars that Bill can't hide, which are bad enough to make anyone think: "What the hell happened to him?"

You won't see the thing that means we are all more holey than George, more deeply scarred than Bill.

You won't know that dear little Victoire, cooing in her Granny's arms at the front of the picture, who won't ever see her Uncle George with two ears or her Dad's face as it ought to look, won't ever know her Uncle Fred.

And that's the biggest hole of all, the one that really matters.
