Those four words
"Tohru – kun! Are you goin' now?"
"Hai, Uo – chan. Ja matta, Uo – chan, Hana – chan."
Tohru followed Kyo home in silence. This was unusual for the pair of them, and Tohru could feel her anxiety coming forth.
"Ano…" Tohru began, her hand out to grab Kyo's sleeve. "Is something the matter, Kyo – kun?"
Kyo turned around, a surprised expression masked on his face.
"No. Why do you ask, Tohru?"
"Ah… iie. It's nothing."
Silence, once again, draped itself heavily on the two students.
"Kyo – kun? Do you have feelings for a person at school?"
This remark made Kyo stop and turn around. An unreadable expression flitted across his face, before he returned to his original composure.
"Why? Do you?"
Tohru blushed in answer. Kyo laughed and began to walk again.
"Ano… Kyo – kun? So, do you?"
Kyo hesitated before answering.
"Why don't we play a game?"
Tohru's eyes widened in question.
"A game, Kyo – kun?"
"Yeah. I ask you questions to figure out who you like, and you do the same."
"Ah…ok, Kyo – kun."
The high school students stopped at the traffic lights. Kyo glanced at Tohru and nudged her gently.
"This person…is he tall?"
Tohru looked at Kyo, tilting her head back.
"He is taller than me, by a head, I think." She answered softly. Kyo and Tohru crossed the road and turned left at a junction. It was now Tohru's turn.
"Is she part of the juuni-shi?"
Kyo shook his head in response.
"Ah, ok."
They were now walking down the same road they followed every morning
"Is he someone I know?"
Tohru's face could have exchanged places with a stop sign.
"Hai, Kyo – kun. Is she in our class?"
The Sohma fields were drawing nearer with each step.
"Yeah, she is. What about your guy? In our class?"
"Hai."
Tohru could feel her heart speeding up. This game was now on dangerous grounds.
"Is she… pretty?"
Kyo laughed and stretched his arms behind him.
"I think she's beautiful. To me, no one else is as beautiful as her. My turn now. Is the boy…good with other people?"
Tohru nodded as they entered the forest.
"Is she kind to you?"
"Very."
The house was now in sight, and Kyo had never been so relieved to see that building.
"How much do you think about him?"
"Everyday." Tohru answered as she took off her shoes. She froze, her hand on the doorframe.
"Kyo – kun? This girl, who is she?"
Tohru never heard his answer as she disappeared inside the house.
"The girl is you."
