The Sandbox
It was his.
Not his sisters', not his brothers', not those stupid kids'.
It was his sandbox. And he was the only one who was aloud to play in it. Besides, nobody ever let him play, so why should he let them in HIS sandbox?
Gaara was now sitting in the largest sandbox on the playground. He had claimed it as 'his' about a month ago. And it had stayed his since then. People avoided him all his life, and that didn't really change when he claimed the large box of sand, although there were a few times when some silly little children would attempt to play in Gaara'a box.
But they all failed.
Gaara never played anywhere other than the sandbox. He really had nowhere else to play.
And so, Gaara sat there everyday ignoring everybody that walked by. Until that one fateful day when a small girl with pink hair and large green eyes, sat down right next to Gaara.
"Hello, my name is Sakura, whats yours?" The pink haired child asked in a sweet voice.
Gaara glared at her. She continued to smile.
'Stupid girl' Gaara thought, 'why is she sitting here?'
"What is your name?" Sakura repeated. He didn't reply, and she pouted.
"Well fine, I don't want to know your name." She said as she began to make a sand castle.
Gaara's eyes widened. 'What is she doing?' But he didn't say anything, and just whatched her.
Sakura sighed as her castle tumbled to the ground, once again. Gaara smirked and began to build his own castle, which turned out much better than Saukra's had.
The six-year-old girl frowned.
"How did you do that?" Sakura asked staring at Gaara's large castle. The said boy smirked.
"I have had alot of practice." He said, very proud of his accomplishment.
"Do you spend alot of time here?"
"I am here every day"
Sakura's eyes grew big. "Don't you play any place else?"
"No"
The young girl looked at him for a moment, then stood up and made a move to leave, but Gaara's soft voice stopped her.
"Where are you going?"
She turned to face the small boy. "I'm going home, to my sandbox."
"Why?" He surprised himself when he asked this, but looked at her for an answer anyway.
"Because," A sly smile played on her lips, "My sandbox is bigger."
Gaara was shocked, and a little mad. "No it isn't, mine is the biggest." He stated firmly.
"Wanna bet?" She taunted him. He stood up. "Fine, lets go see who's is the biggest."
The two of them walked to Sakuras' home, when they arrived they went around to the back yard.
"Where is it?" Gaara demanded. He looked around the yard, but there was nothing there. He then looked at Sakura, she was blushing, staring at her shoes.
"I-I don't really have a sandbox." She stated quietly. Slowly she looked up at him. Then she smiled, and lightly hit him on the shoulder. "Tag! You're it!" She yelled and ran away from him.
Gaara was shocked, but he ran after her anyway. The two children played tag for a while, they then played a game of hide-n-seek. When they were too tierd to play anymore, they fell down on the grass.
"Why did you say you had a sandbox?" Gaara asked.
"Umm...well,...what's your name?" Sakura suddenly asked. She truned to look at him.
"Gaara." He replied. She smiled. "Gaara...I like that name."
He blushed and asked her once again why she told him she had a sandbox.
Sakura smiled, "It was the only thing I could think that would get you out of the sandbox at the playground."
Gaara smiled. Maybe he could play in other places than just HIS...the sandbox.
Well, what did you think? Please let me know!!! Thanks!
