Title: Remedy
Drabble: #47
Rave's prompt: Handheld
Randomly selected pairing: Yamaken
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: I like this one, even if it didn't turn out as great as I wanted it to. Oh dear, I've just seen the time; I have to get up in six hours, and I haven't gone to bed yet. Haha. I prefer writing to sleeping any day.
This day, this moment; Yamato has been waiting for it for a very, very long time. He's worked hard at his relationship with Ken for the last two and a half years. When their path became rocky and tumultuous, he was the one who had inspired the confidence and determination to overcome the obstacles they were faced with. Where others had cast doubt, he had been patient and refused to accept failure as a possibility. He had made sacrifices, and proved to Ken time and time again that he had nothing to fear.
It hasn't been easy, but now it's paying off. Ken is handing Yamato the power to destroy, completely of his own free will. He's giving him the ability to rip him in two, to tear him limb from limb, to murder him on the inside and walk away without a backward glance, but he's trusting him not to.
Yamato can literally feel Ken's vulnerability beneath his fingers, could hold it in his hand if he wanted to, and he swears that he will not abuse this privilege. He knows he's lucky to have Ken as it is, and Ken has made such a huge effort to come this far for him. He refuses to be the one to ruin it all. This moment… it's probably the biggest gamble Ken has ever taken, and he's taking it because he wants Yamato to be happy. Yamato has no idea how to thank him, but a good start will be making sure that Ken never regrets this decision.
And this means more to him than 'I love you' ever could.
