Chapter One: Realizations

She had been in front of the full length mirror in her room for over an hour, scrutinizing her reflection from every possible angle. After stepping off the scale to learn that she had gained 5 pounds since beginning high school, the good mood she had woken up with was crushed. With a sigh, she began changing her outfit for the fourth time that morning. She had never noticed how round her stomach always looked or how her thighs jiggled when she moved.

She finally decided on just wearing a loose pair of jeans and the baggiest hoodie she owned. Even though she was just going over to Miley's house, she didn't want to look fatter than she felt. How could she not feel fat standing next to Hannah Montana, the skinny little pop sensation she was. Nobody's perfect? If that wasn't the biggest load of crap she'd ever heard. Hannah was perfect. Singing a song about all the flaws she supposedly had was not going to convince anyone, especially Lilly.

Her thoughts and debating with herself had distracted her so much that she hadn't even realized she was standing at the front door of the Stewart's house. She let herself in and saw Jackson standing in the kitchen. She immediately wrapped her arms around her stomach, trying to hide how disgusting it looked.

"Lilly, I didn't know you were coming over." Jackson said, preparing to take a bite of his oversized sandwich.

"Hi, just going upstairs!" She practically yelled back while running as fast as she could to Miley's room. It was one thing for Miley to see her right now, but Jackson? No, no boys could see her like this.

"What!?" Miley yelped, in reaction to her door being slammed. "Oh Lilly, it's just you. You scared me!"

"Sorry, just wanted to get here quickly. You know, I just mean, well, we haven't seen each other in awhile and I feel like we have a lot to catch up on!"

"Lilly, we saw each other yesterday at school, what's wrong? You're acting stranger than a possum that ate too much Chinese food out of the garbage!"

"Huh, it's just felt like ages, that's all. Let's have a sleepover tonight! We can watch a bunch of scary movies until we're too scared to go to sleep!" Lilly just didn't want to go back to her house. She knew if she was alone she would eat everything in sight. It seemed the more she tried to keep her mind off of food, the more she couldn't stop thinking about it. If she was with Miley she would have some inspiration to watch what she ate. If Hannah Montana wasn't inspiration, she didn't know what was!

"Sure Lilly, let me just take a shower first. I won't be too long."

"Hey, can I borrow your laptop?"

"Of course, it's on my desk."

'If I can just research some quick weight loss strategies, I'll know what I have to start working on. No matter how hard it is, I need to lose those 5 pounds.'

But right as she was thinking this, another voice popped in her head.

'Why lose 5 pounds when you can lose 10 pounds and look even better? Don't you want people to look at "Lola" instead of Hannah Montana? You could be so thin, it would make you perfect.'

Lilly knew what she had to do. She just needed to make sure she didn't draw any attention to her realizations.

[A.N. I hope you guys liked the first chapter. There will definitely be more to come! I don't know exactly where I'm going to take this, so I welcome suggestions.

Also, I just want to make it clear that I don't think Emily Osment is fat in any way, shape, or form. She's an absolutely beautiful young lady!
