Snape's Dreams
Severus Snape had many dreams. There was just one problem. Few of them ever worked out.
He dreamed that the pretty girl, Lily Evans would be delighted when he told her about magic.
Instead she was angry with him and left with her sister.
He dreamed Lily, beautiful Lily, would be glad that he protected her from her sister. He wanted her to be impressed that he refused to just accept her insults.
Instead she was angry at him, and once again chose her sister over the boy she had been talking to only moments before.
Severus dreamed that Lily would be glad that they had read Petunia's letter. That she would think of it as an adventure.
Instead, she was angry that he had caused her sister to hate her.
He dreamed that he and Lily Evans would be the most successful Slytherins ever.
Instead she was a Gryffindor.
Snape dreamed that Lily would like his friends, like Avery and Mulciber. He dreamed that she would think that they were cool.
Instead she told him that she hated the dark magic that they were doing, that their sense of humor was not just bad, but evil.
Severus Snape dreamed that Lily would forgive him anything.
Instead, she stopped liking him when he crossed one line too many, and called her a mudblood.
He dreamed that he could save Lily. That he could stop the most brilliant light in the world from going dark.
Instead, on October 31, 1981, the man he had once sworn allegiance to, Lord Voldemort, killed the woman he lived for.
Severus Snape dreamed that he would be able to keep Harry Potter alive. That he could preserve the last living remnant of Lily Evans. He dreamed that the eyes of her son, so like her own, would never lose their light, the way that his mother's had.
Instead, he died believing that Harry potter would meet his maker within hours. He was wrong, but he was also dead.
Above all Severus dreamed that one day Lily Evans would love him.
Instead, he watched as she fell in love with the man he hated above all others. Watched as she married him. Watched as Lily Evans become Lily Potter. Watched as she bore a child who was exactly like his father I every way. Except the eyes. He had the eyes of the woman who Severus had loved since before he started at Hogwarts. After that he watched as the boy grew up, hating Snape the same way his father had. He watched as he himself angered the boy. As he separated himself from the last connection he had to Lily Evans.
Severus Snape dreamed that one day Lily's son would understand.
That was the only dream that came true.
Author's note: This is part of a series called Reflections. There is another one, about Luna, called Luna's Wishes. I am asking for suggestions of characters whose reflections you want to see. I will dedicate the story to you if you suggest a character, as well as sending you a message when I put the story up. Please be nice and give me suggestions. I promise to respond to every review. I want to apologize. This is really short, but I felt like adding more would mess it up. I still feel bad for writing such a short story.
