He'd never admit it but if there was one thing that can be considered as his only weakness, his observants would have answered without hesitation. It was that boy. They are not certain as to why though. They just notice, they only observe after all. Certain they may not be, they do recognize each and every reaction he gives to the aforementioned boy. The result of each interaction wherein the boy would ask a special favor to the man often ends up with the latter having to go through all the trouble just to please said boy. They've known him for years. Thousands in fact. He was never the kind to do a favor for anyone. Not even for those who are seated higher than him. He works on his own accord. He liked being alone. And though they have known him since the dawn of time, they were never treated as his friends. Only acquaintances. And sometimes even annoyances. Their masters would often worry of his independent nature and discuss with one another if it'd be intelligent to replace him with someone else and despite their dislike towards the man who has never considered anyone's existence besides himself, they would object completely. He was selfish, that was a given, but he knew what he was doing. He knew everything. And though he was never the type one could easily trust or let alone respect, he still does his job better than anyone could ever do.
He was like that.
The boy was very normal if one disregards the fact that he was neither a human or a spirit. He smiled like a child. He liked the things a child would normally like. He liked to play. He liked to consume sweets. Because he was easily bored, he'd explore places one could only dare to venture to. To put it simply, he was a healthy child.
Another thing to disregard though was the fact that he would have been the very epitome of malevolence within the decade. The man was instructed to rid of the boy. He objected. Instead, he gave the boy the will to choose his path. He meddled with time to save the boy and his family. For once, he actually cheated. The higher legions were amused by the unexpected turn of events but were angered all the same. The observants were punished.
Since then, the boy had been a constant visitor. Whether to ask for favors or to just meddle with the man out of boredom, it depended on him.
The observants were clearly annoyed. The man in turn was more than happy to have company besides the usual "annoyances". The child was ecstatic but still bored.
"I speculate this is for the better" musing over the grotesque future that once hovered over the boy's head.
That short sentence was enough for the other to understand. They're minds were connected after all. He only stared at him.
The future was saved with the boy not having to perish and instead becoming an ally and friend (and weakness) and a new source of headache- or eyeache to the Observants.
In the end, the Master of All Time still did it for his sake.
end.
