Summary: What Angelus does when she's not helping Caim. Or... at least tries to...
A/N: This was inspired by a friend while I was introducing her to Drakengard. She said, "What does Angelus do when she's not with Caim?" It made me think, which is rather dangerous.
Angelus yawned, her sharp fangs gleaming in the warm sunlight. It was a surprisingly nice day and the dragon was content to spend it lazing about doing absolutely nothing. Just as she was beginning to get comfortable, that infernal human she had made a pact with summoned her. Grumbling to herself, the crimson dragon flew to his aid.
The dragon grumpily plucked a third arrow from her haunch. She spat it out and let out a low hiss. Dammed humans with their arrows and bows. Dammed pact partner for being so bloodthirsty. After checking herself for other arrows, Angelus plopped down on the ground. She stretched her wings out to their fullest extent, then her legs. Yawning once more, the dragon shut her golden eyes, ready to take a nap.
Her eyes snapped open when that dammed human summoned her again. With a snarl, she got up and once again flew to his aid.
Angelus stretched her aching wings as the rest of the humans set up camp. She and her pact partner had cleansed the skies of the flying vermin. She was now exhausted, sore, grumpy and dirty. The Empire jackals had dirtied her hide with their weapons and blood. After a few minutes of searching for her pact partner, she found him near his sister. Figuring the Goddess would distract him long enough for a bath, the dragon flew off to a river.
Contrary to what humans would think, dragons do enjoy baths, especially in hot springs. Since there were no hot springs, Angelus would make do with the river. She quickly dipped her wings in the river and sighed as the gentle current soothed them. After wading into it, she settled down, eager for the current to wash away her aches and pains.
Then Caim called her.
Angelus let out a roar of frustration as she stumbled out of the water. Shaking her wings dry, she flew back to the encampment, only to find it surrounded with the Empire rats. They were no match for her fangs or claws, and not to mention her current bad temper. After they retreated, Angelus glowered at her pact partner, who ignored her. He was too busy with his troops and sister. Perhaps now he would be too busy to disturb her. She was hungry.
After a while of searching, the crimson dragon spotted a large cow grazing. She dove down and snatched the hapless animal up. Angelus found a secure and remote location when that dammed human called her again. The dragon burnt half the clearing in her anger and hastily flew back to him.
Before he could even think, Angelus stuck her snout in his face.
"WHAT?!" she roared, causing the human's hair to blow back. He blinked several times, then gestured at the stunned Imperial troops. Angelus snarled at them and breathed a stream of fire. The remaining troops quickly ran off, terrified of the enraged dragon. Turning back to Caim, Angelus stuck her snout back in his face.
"I am hungry, sore and tired. Stop calling me!" she bellowed, then flew off without another glance back.
Caim looked at an equally confused Verdelet. The mute prince scratched out a message in the dirt. I thought dragons didn't get PMS
Verdelet shrugged. "I wouldn't know, my boy. My dragon was a male..."
