Sora started to move closer to her, hesitated, and then returned to his original spot, unsure of his actions and annoyed at his self-doubt.
Usagi glanced at him curiously but seemed content when he smiled at her, returning the gesture without pausing in her flow of conversation.
He was glad she hadn't asked him a question; caught up in his own thoughts, he had stopped paying attention.
Around them, the number of classmates began to increase as they got closer to school, teenagers chatting and loitering, unwilling to enter the building until moments before the first bell rang.
If he didn't do it now, when would he possibly work up the courage again? But if he did do it and their relationship changed for the worst—
Ah, screw it.
Without a second thought, Sora reached out and acted.
To his pleasure, they walked the rest of the way holding hands.
