Sakuno was sitting alone on a bench. She was crying her eyes out because her heart was split in two. She just witnessed Tomoka and Ryoma kissing on a swing. She could not believe it! Her best friend knew that Sakuno liked him, yet she went for him anyways… some friend…
"Sakuno-chan?" a voice called out.
Sakuno looked up from her tears to see none other than her senpai Kikumaru Eiji talking to her.
"Why are you crying?" he asked her. Sakuno looked down at her lap.
"I-It's Ryoma-kun," she sobbed. Eiji's eyes widened.
"Ochibi eh? Nyah… what did he do?" Eiji asked her. Sakuno looked up at him. She didn't know why he cared, but he did and for some reason she appreciated it.
"Ano… I-I saw h-him and T-Tomo-chan kissing," Sakuno answered as a tear ran down her cheek. Eiji was in shock. Tomoka knew she liked him! Heck that whole school but Ryoma knew she liked him. What kind of friend is that?
"Osakada and Ochibi eh?" Eiji said taking a seat next to Sakuno. "Nyah! Sakuno-chan… you deserve better than Ochibi," Eiji told her.
Sakuno looked up at him with a surprised look. Tears were still visible in her eyes. Eiji avoided eye contact.
"Ochibi never appreciates anything you do for him. You spend so much time on him and he doesn't even take a hint. Ochibi no baka for not noticing a girl like you…"
Sakuno couldn't even think of a word to say. Eiji made her feel like she was too special for Ryoma. She always thought Ryoma was too special for her but this time… she was feeling… different.
"He doesn't compliment you on your cooking and makes fun of your hair. If it wasn't for you he'd probably starve to death!"
He did tease Sakuno on her hair. She did cook lunch for him everyday. Without her he'd probably feel faint on the tennis courts!
"Sakuno-chan deserves way better…" Eiji spoked again. "Someone who loves you for her you are…" Eiji turned towards her. Sakuno stared back. Eiji placed his hand on Sakuno's which made her blush.
"Nyah! Someone who will protect you from problems when you're down…" Eiji leaned in. Sakuno's eyes widen… was he?
"Someone who will appreciate all that you do for them," Eiji said quietly closing his eyes. Sakuno saw Eiji's face come closer and shut her eyes.
"Someone…" Eiji whispered. At that moment Eiji's lips landed softly on Sakuno's. Sakuno opened her eyes as their lips met… she was scared, surprise, confused, and oddly happy. She closed her eyes and kissed back which caught Eiji but surprise but he was extremely happy that she did.
When they broke apart Sakuno glowed a scarlet glow. Eiji laughed a little bit.
"Somone like me Sakuno-chan…"
