"I'd never thought I'd be nervous." Jillian whispered to her husband to be, fidgeting in her white wedding kimono with matching wataboshi, a traditional wedding headdress, covering her blown out hair styled in a stylish chignon. Sesshomaru kneeled next to her dressed in a traditional black kimono with his family's crest on the front. Behind them were their grandparents, parents, step-parents and their son. Jaylen sat on his grandmother Rhonda's lap looking at the ceremony in a mini kimono matching his father's. The infant somehow knew to be quiet for the ceremony, but being carried in and out of the shrine, Jaylen waved at spectators from behind the barricades.
The Japanese service was short and sweet, the san-san-kuso, sipping of the ceremonial sake then an offering was made to the Shinto gods, a large check to help fund the temple's community farm and garden that's used to help feed the poor in the district. Bowing to the priest, everyone stepped out of the main shrine room to the adjoining changing rooms for the Christian ceremony.
"You ready baby girl?" Zachariah asked looking down at his daughter and grandson. Jillian rubbed her nose against six month old Jaylen's after changing him into a dress shirt, slacks and a bowtie. Marisol, her maid of honor would kill her if she ruined her makeup. Having Ada Mae, her mother and grandmother Marisol went to college and obtained her associates degree and was now working on her bachelors. Sara looked behind and gave the bride a wink, looking stunning in her soft pink bridesmaid dress along with Victoria.
"Yes!" Jillian adjusted the tiny veil with feathers on the side of her head an looked down at her eggshell colored wedding dress. Marisol stepped out first out to the front of the shrine where the Best Man, K Skrilla waited to walk with her down the aisle leading to the shrine gazebo overlooking cherry blossoms and various fruits and vegetables that grew for the poor. Inuyasha led Sara and Victoria walked out with Jamal.
Jillian walked down the aisle holding her son in one arm while her father had his locked around hers.
'Beautiful' Sesshomaru thought to himself watching his bride and son go down the aisle. When Jillian finally reached him he could hardly paid attention to the pastor speaking until he was told to recite his vows then kiss the bride.
"You ready to party Mr. Taishou?"
"Hn." Jaylen made a happy squeal clapping his hands along with everyone cheering for the new couple.
"He gets that from you." Sesshomaru teased, looking down at his wife then pulling her into another kiss.
3 years later
"I remember dreaming about sitting with you and our children, funny how life turns out doesn't it?"
"Hn." Sesshomaru gave Kagura a quick glance before taking another sip of his bubble tea. Japan, though crowded this little bakery in the middle of Tokyo was quiet and secluded so the heirs could enjoy the play date in relative peace.
"Don't worry, I am happily married too!" waving her former betrothed off. Kagura looked down at her 1 year old daughter Andrea play with 8 month old Aiko, two adorable babies with bright smiles and thick curly hair on their heads like halos. Andrea had eyes dark red, the color of wine and brown hair while Aiko had dark gray hair and gold eyes. Jaylen, now three was learning his ABC's on a tablet.
"Never thought I would have two children with afros." Sesshomaru smiled down at his children.
"Neither did I but I'm happy. I have Alejandro, you have Jillian and we have cute brown babies." Sesshomaru couldn't agree more with how much his life had changed. Turning his attention out the window he waited for the limo to arrive with his wife who was doing a radio interview, thus ending the play date.
"We have miss Jillian Gray, wife of Sesshomaru Taishou, heir to Taishou Corp released her second album titled Jaylen and Aiko Rose. How are you feeling about this hit album?" the radio host asked Jillian over the microphone. Rolling your eyes at anyone was rude in any culture but Jillian held her tongue when she was referred to an a millionaire's wife rather than an international recording artist.
"I'm humbled by how many people liked the album. I look at is a reflection of me growing up. I'm a wife and mother of two beautiful children and having them in my life taught me I didn't need to rush to grow up."
"You were the first artist on Tru Musik records but after releasing your first self titled album, you kind of stepped out of spotlight while other artists like Ahmed, D. Slayarz and Single Dream went off by storm."
"I think at the time, my song writing ability needed to grow and I was also pregnant. I believe why this album is so popular because the music is about real adult issues. I'm a young wife and mother so I still like to party with my girlfriends but I like to clean the house in a house dress."
"Yes, you have two beautiful babies. How are they?"
"They're good, growing up fast."
"Has anyone treated you and your children differently in Japan?"
"Those who don't know about me as an artist stop and stare want want to touch the babies hair. Some are just mean, glaring at my family, whispering gaigin, but I ignore it."
"Well us here love you!" the host exclaimed referring to the staff at the radio station. "Many more in Japan do too."
"Thank, you." giving the host a friendly short bow.
"So, what do you know about Kagome from D. Slayarz eloping with your brother in law Inuyasha Taishou?"
"My lips are sealed." Winking at the host.
"How about Sango and Miroku? Any word about theme sealing the deal? How about Kalil and that American model?"
"Ah, they're still young, I say enjoy the music and look out for their next album."
"I want to talk about this new hit song thats the theme for the new hit romance movie."
"Yes, How Strong is Our Love. I wrote it years ago and when I was called to do the theme song and I had to pull out my song book when I saw the clips and I was like, 'I got the song'!"
"What was the idea for the ballad?"
"My life."
Well that's it. I had so many ideas but could not bring them to life but I think thats okay, having a more open ended closing of this story. Looking back on this piece, I had too many original characters with backstories that should have been closed out or their presence in the story wasn't necessary because I had enough of a storyline with the main characters. Now off to work on my next unfinished work!
