Author's Note: Jack and Kate were living together after they were rescued, but one day Kate runs leaving Jack to wonder why she left. It's kinda self-explanatory. I will have many OneShots coming! Oh, by the way I will be gone from the 5th until the 15th. So I won't update any stories since I will not have computer access. Sorry. Onto the story! I don't own LOST or Heels Over Head.
I've got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby. And gone without a sound.
Jack woke up and turned on his side. He looked at the spot next to him and groaned. Kate was gone again. Dr. Shephard sat up and picked up his cell phone. It had only been two weeks since they were rescued. The feds, thinking that being on an island was enough punishment, let Kate go. She moved in with Jack as his divorce from Sarah was made final. Jack dialed a somewhat memorized number as he held a piece of paper in his hand. After Jack dialed the number he set the paper on his bedside table. The phone rang three times before someone answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Claire, you haven't seen Kate at all today have you?"
"No, sorry. Why?"
"Because she's not here."
"Maybe she went to Sawyer's?"
Jack shook his head even though Claire couldn't see him and said, "No. Right when we got back he disappeared."
"Oh yeah." Then Claire added., "Have you tried Sun and Jin? Or Juliet?"
"No. But I will try them. Bye, Claire."
"Bye."
Jack hung up his phone and sighed.
I got your little brown shirt in my bottom drawer baby. And your little white socks in the top drawer. You were always leaving your shit around.
Jack went through the drawers looking for a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. As he rummaged through the drawers, Jack found one of Kate's t-shirts. He shut the drawer quickly and sighed. Then Jack picked up his cell phone and dialed another number. After four rings the phone was answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's me. Jack."
"Jack! How are you? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's Kate though."
"What's wrong?"
"She's not here, Juliet."
"What? Where is she?"
"That's the thing, Julie. I don't know where she is. We've been living together since we got back here. About a week ago, she left. But she came back that night."
"How long has she been gone?"
"She was here last night. When I woke up this morning she was gone."
Juliet sighed. "I'm sorry, Jack. I don't know where she could be."
"Okay. If you see her, tell her I miss her."
"Okay. Bye."
"Bye." Jack hung up the phone and sighed.
But you couldn't stay awhile.
Jack knew deep down in his heart that Kate would run and leave him someday. She just always had to run. Jack knew it would've happened sooner or later. He just thought it'd be later. not sooner.
I've got your hair on my pillow and your smell in my sheets. And it makes me think about you with the sand in your feet. Is it all you thought it'd be? You mean everything to me.
Jack laid on his bed and sighed. He smelled his sheets. Kate's aroma lingered on the sheets. Dr. Shephard sighed once more and closed his eyes.
You're a chance taker, heart breaker, got me wrapped around your finger.
Kate meant everything to Jack. We they had been rescued he had promised her that he would protect her no matter what.
'Cause you're always on my mind. And I'm running out of time.
All Jack wanted was the best for Kate. And he thought she was happy with him.
Where'd you go?
Jack didn't know where Kate had went and he knew that she hated staying in a place for a long time. Jack knew that Kate would come back eventually. He just had to be patient and wait for the right time.
And when you hit the coast maybe you'll finally see. And then you'll turn it all around and you'll come back to me.
