The death of his brother sent him into a mental breakdown, and after his wounds were taken care of he was sent to an institute where he could mentally recover. He's institutionalized for almost a year before he's finally released back into Kakashi's care. Through his recovery, not only has he become stable, but sober as well. On the day of release, Naruto and Iruka show up as well. Naruto immediately recognizes something different about Sasuke. He seems healthier and calmer, content (he's still Sasuke, his character hasn't changed, but his emotional wounds have finally scarred over and he's become completely sober). The raven is cocky and a smartass when he sees Naruto and Iruka, stopping in front of the blond with his arms crossed and his hip cocked with a smirk on his lips. Naruto just rolls his eyes and retorts "They couldn't do anything about your mouth, I see" or something. (Naruto's started taking classes with Jiraiya—some kind of martial arts—and he's not so easily riled now). Sasuke ends up shyly kissing him, showing nervousness and a brief blush before he tells Naruto he missed him. The blond grins and playfully punches his arm, telling Sasuke he's glad he's back. Kakashi and Sasuke end up moving in with Iruka and Naruto (although Sasuke refuses to live in the apartment and thus forces the adults to buy a house), and Naruto and Sasuke start dating. /p

Sasuke hums in appreciations and tilts his head back for a proper kiss. After Naruto mentions the song Sasuke had been humming, Sasuke says it's a new song he's working on (the band took a break while Sasuke was hospitalized, but now Sasuke's working on some new material for a new album). Naruto tells him it's pretty and that he likes the change from the morose songs he'd written before. He asks Sasuke to sing what he's written so far. Epilogue ends with lyrics./p
