Disclaimer: nope I don't own it...isn't it obvious sighs
It was supposed to be something one would brush off, a slip of the tongue or rather action. She never meant for him to find out. He wouldn't have found out either if he wasn't so darn observant. Now she found herself going weak in the knees, giving in to him. She never knew it was possible for someone to have such a hold over her, but here and now he had. He was kissing her. She let him. She was losing herself in him.
Stupid emotions! Curse it all! She told herself not to give in to being jealous. She thought it wouldn't affect her the way it did. Man oh man, how very wrong she was. She couldn't ignore the flirtatious glances that the woman sent Shawn and obviously her body was not working well with her mind when she told it to be cool, calm and collective. Something Shawn didn't fail to notice.
"You know Jules, there's no reason to be jealous. She won't come between us." He said giving her one of those infectious grins.
Those were the exact words he said that made her lose her composure. It was only after she had stuttered had she realized it was just a means of him figuring out whether or not she was really jealous, and then that's when it started.
She looked up at him and then they locked glances. It was the typical, clichéd we've got stars in our eyes scenario only thing the kiss was far from typical. It had meaning. They say you can tell a way a guy feels about you through his kiss and damn there was something. She never realized just how much she felt either until the kiss. She was pouring out her very being into him. It wasn't a hungry kiss though. It was gentle, deep, warm and had so many emotions tied to it.
When they did pull apart, they looked at each other for a while, Shawn hands still wrapped around her waist, both of them wanting to grin madly but each still not sure if they should let on how much it really meant to them. Even though it was clear to both parties by the look in both of their eyes how much it impacted them. Still, there's always that uncertainty, more over on Juliet's part, if you're imagining it all.
Maybe she should have stopped it before it had begun, they worked together after all. They couldn't do this. It would interfere with their work relationship. Wouldn't it? Please there's was no turning back. They were at the police station for crying out loud. The only good thing about it was that they were in the lunch room and no one else was there. How could she have let this happen?
"Shawn." She managed to breathe out. For a moment his eyes held a look of worry. He knew that tone. It was the tone that said we should forget about this. It shouldn't have happened. It was a mistake. He couldn't let that happen. He knew she didn't mean it either.
"Hey." She looked back up at him. He was grinning like an idiot. Really now, it was hard to get your point across when he was doing that. She let out a soft chuckle and soon there was a pair of grinning idiots in the lunch room. She was being ridiculous. Of course he meant it.
"Hey." She replied. He pulled her closer to him, and leaned in for another kiss which she so graciously gave him. It was a passionate one, equally as deep and still able to hold that tenderness to it.
Juliet for once, brushed work aside, not thinking about what will happen next because she knew this, right here, was right. Being in his embrace was right. She would help make this work. Most importantly she accepted it now, that some things, like matters of the heart you could not hide from.
