He watches her constantly.

The world to the left is black but he can see her in sharp focus to the right. His eye healed and CTU let him return to train the new field recruits. He's always been excellent at what he does and this new curveball doesn't cause him to make an exception. But when he watches the young men go out on missions something pangs deep in his stomach and he rubs his eye.

She watches his languid walk across the floor as he comes toward her.

She busies herself on her computer and focuses on the screen in front of her. She feels him behind her and doesn't turn around.

"I need your help."

"I'm busy," she replies tersely. "Have Sweeney do it."

"No."

She blinks and turns sharply to face him. His eyes are boring into hers and she freezes. Both of them watch her intensely and she sighs and tidies her work station knowing she'll give into whatever he asks. He's wearing that look.

"I need you," he says.

She lets out a hiss of annoyance but her eyes tell a different story.

Whenever she shoots an operation idea down, his eyes burn with resentment.

(Even the blind one.)

When she laughs, his eyes glow with amusement.

(Even the blind one.)

When she looks at his eyes too long, his own grow pained.

(Even the blind one.)

When she touches him though, something else burns bright in both eyes.

Chloe sees the looks they give each other.

Doyle's eyes take on a more hooded look, which leaves Chloe feeling mildly embarrassed. His look reminds her of the way that Jack looked at Audrey.

Nadia's eyes are very wide, which makes her think of the way that Milo looked at Nadia.

She wishes both would be more discreet about it because there are time when she would rather focus on her work. And the tension their eyes spark when they connect is something that she can't help watching.

Nadia does not know why she starts doing it but every time before a field mission she pulls him aside and touches both of his eyes.

She can't let him go until that's done.

He never says a word when she does it.

She vaguely recalls the sensation of Milo's eyes watching her and wonders if she should feel guilty. She thinks she does. She thinks that she might explode everyday when she walks across the floor were he died.

But then Doyle looks at her and suddenly the guilt vanishes.

"Stop staring at me." Her voice is clipped as she looks over the results of the new field operations.

She expects a sarcastic remark or a definitive no.

She is met with silence.

She looks up confused and sees him watching her. His eyes are unfocused and suddenly the papers and deadlines are at the very back of her mind.

Fear is a funny thing.

She watches in trepidation as he grabs his gun and heads out with the others. She pulls on his hand and leads him to the back of the locker room.

"Be careful," her voice begs.

He leans forward and brushes his lips across her eyelids and pulls back. Her eyes fill with tears that are made of hope, fear, guilt, anguish and something else.

"I'll try," he says with a wink.

"I…" she starts but her voice trails off.

He searches her face silently while she tries to remember what she wanted to say.

Her eyes speak louder then she could have imagined and he shuts his briefly before walking away.
