OoooooO

Fuji stood under the clock in the park, waiting. He turned around to check the time. Tezuka still had a minute and 5 seconds. He heard the gears grind, preparing to signal a new hour. Fuji scanned the park, taking a breath to calm his stomach. Tezuka would never be late.

With a loud tick, the clock stuck 6 as a hand touched Fuji's shoulder. Fuji turned, smiling at Tezuka as he waited for the last reverberations of the chime to fade.

"You came," he said. Like clockwork. Fuji cocked his head to the side a bit. "The café is just over there."

Tezuka only nodded as he followed Fuji across the park.

OoooooO

Tezuka stared across the tracks as he and Fuji waited for the train in silence. He didn't dare to take Fuji's hand as they stood in the crowded train. He wondered if the tensai would speak to him on Monday.

On the walk to the café he had been so preoccupied with trying to think of something to say that he had forgotten to hold the door. Fuji had been annoyed by his lack of consideration but they had managed to have a nice conversation until Tezuka told the waiter that they were splitting the check. After a tense pause, Fuji had agreed to pay his share. Tezuka belatedly realized that since the date had been his idea, he was expected to cover the bill.

Tezuka sighed. The only thing he had done right that evening was to show up on time.

The train stopped at Fuji's stop and Tezuka followed his date through the crowd. At the very least he could end the date properly. Fuji turned around and put a hand on his chest, stopping him at door. Tezuka was puzzled but relieved to see that the tensai's smile had returned.

"Ne, Tezuka, what do you say we don't count this one?" Fuji said, pulling his hand back as the door slid shut. Tezuka nodded and took out his cell phone as the train sped away.

Meet me by the clock tomorrow at 6.

Ooo The End ooO
