Grissom was so excited about this Dr. Brennan who was coming out to help with a case.
Sara hoped she didn't look anything like Terri Miller.
Sara rode with Grissom to pick the anthropologist and her partner from the airport. What she wasn't expecting was to seeā¦
"Seely?" She squealed and launched herself at him. He picked her up in a hug that always made her feel warm.
When he set her down, she noticed the scowls. Both Grissom and Seely Booth's companion wore matching furrowed brows and frowns.
"Griss, this is Seely Booth. We were lab partners at Harvard." She noticed Grissom gave her old friend a firm handshake as he slid his other hand onto the small of her back.
She almost thought he might wee on her or growl.
The rest of the introductions were made around, and Sara realized that this woman, who she had been potentially jealous about, was in fact jealous of her.
She could have celebrated, but she had damage control to do with Grissom.
When they reached the lab and the bones, she excused herself to discuss something with Grissom "in his office."
When the door closed behind her, she took a deep breath.
"He was my lab partner and my friend. Never anything more. He was the big brother I never had," she stated in a calm firm voice. He was standing by the tarantula terrarium, pout evident on his face.
"Was he the reason you wanted to join the FBI?" He was still facing the tank, but she could hear the doubt in his voice without having to see it on his face. "He's in really good shape."
"What? No. Never. He was always trying to lure me to the dark suit side, but the only reason I ever wanted to go was because I wasn't sure I'd ever have a place in your life." She had crossed the room during her speech and slid a cool hand along his spine.
He turned around then, captured her hand in his, and gave her a half smile.
"I was kind of an ass huh?"
"Just a bit," she said smiling. "Plus you don't have anything to worry about with Seely Booth. I think Dr. Brennan would gouge my eyes out if I hugged him like that again."
He smiled at her statement and gave her hand a squeeze. "I think we better get back to our guests. There is a case to solve after all."
Grissom kept his hand on her back most of the night. She figured it was better than growling.
