Summary: Logan gives Ororo the gift of subtle advice. (One shot-Drabble)
A/N: There is a theme of Ororo being the other woman in Ororo/Remy fics. I'm a big fan of that particular pairing, however I do like RoLo too. So the other night I after reading some fics while settling in I put in my Nina Simone: Definitive collection cd and track three was perfect. So yeah, it's a song fic. But I promise no X-Man or Woman is singing. I would suggest reading the fic first before listening to the song. The link to copy and paste is below.
Track Three: Repeat
Logan leaned against a wall in the shadows of the corridor alcove in direct view of Ororo's attic door. He was watching and listening for her. He'd done so regularly for the last month. He'd noticed that the goddess had been melancholy. So he watched her whenever she was near. He watched the way she interacted with her colleagues and students, noticing when her emotions and demeanor would change. Finally he'd found one common denominator in each instance and gave her a small gift that he hoped would make her well again.
Now he hides in the shadows…watching, listening and waiting. He watches through the dark directly at her door, listening to the sorrow of truth drift through the walls, waiting for her decision.
As Logan expected, the thief would steal away from his love and make his way to Ororo's door. Remy tried the knob to enter but found it locked.
"Stormy", he whispered into and through the rich mahogany of the door, "let me in, chere".
"No… Never again," Ororo replied in a tired voice.
Remy stood at her door and listened to the other heartache filled voice behind the door before he turned and walk back down the stairs.
Logan advanced from his hiding spot and approached Ororo's door. He lifted his hand to knock just as the drawn out lyric of the last verse faded. In the quiet he heard the repressed sob of a goddess escape its captive. Then track three repeated.
He left her, silently vowing to return.

The Other Woman
Written by: Jesse Mae Robinson
Sung by: Nina Simone
The
other woman finds time to manicure her nails
The other woman is
perfect where her rival fails
And she's never seen with pin curls
in her hair
The other woman enchantes her clothes with French
perfume
The other woman keeps fresh cut flowers in each room
There
are never toys that's scattered everywhere
And when her baby
comes to call
He'll find her waiting like a lonesome queen
Cos
when she's by his side
It's such a change from old routine
But
the other woman will always cry herself to sleep
The other woman
will never have his love to keep
And as the years go by the other
woman
Will spend her life alone
