Cold, blue flames swallowed all.

Next morning, he stumbled downstairs, shivering, and picked up the newspaper - to see her. Her picture. And a blazing building's photo.

And the frigid flames came back to freeze him.

'Arson attack', he read. 'Suspected suicide'...

...she was last Thursday's date... jilted... forgotten...

He sank to his knees. The flames died, but he felt no warmth.
