Meredith stepped out of the OR into the scrub room, grinning as she stripped off her gloves and face mask. Derek had let her close up his surgical patient, a young man with a Medulloblastoma. That feeling never left, no matter how many times she saw or performed any surgery, each time in the OR always left her high. And ever since she had returned to the hospital following her near-death experience, he had constantly requested her as his intern, letting her feel that intoxication more than ever now. Of course, that ever-watchful eye of his was getting on her nerves slightly, but she simply ignored it for now, since he did let her sit in on some amazing surgeries recently and the fact that in the grand scheme of things, it didn't bother her much anymore. But now she felt like she was walking on air all the way back to the locker rooms. She had only a few minutes to primp and get that hospital smell off her before she was to meet Derek over at Joe's.

She walked over to Joe's and pushed the door open, eyes scanning the crowd for her boyfriend. She saw him sitting at the corner of the bar furthest from her. She practically danced over to him, since the intoxicating effects of the surgery still lingered and the fact that this incredibly handsome man was waiting for her, she thought to herself. She sat down beside Derek and gave him a kiss on the cheek while the huge grin still graced her face. Derek couldn't help but grinning himself.

"Derek, that surgery, it was just -"

"I know," he said, before turning to the bartender. "Joe, can this lady get a drink?"

Joe set down a shot of tequila in front of Meredith almost immediately and she promptly took it and asked for another one. This routine continued, Meredith downing shots of tequila while Derek kept drinking his Scotch. But for once, these drinks weren't Meredith drinking away her pain. Instead, each shot and each Scotch was a celebration: another day of fantastic surgeries and fantastic kissing (it should be sex, Meredith thought, but one of us is always working). Meredith even thought that Derek seemed more relaxed at that moment then he had been for days. A combination of alcohol and the fact that he can watch me all he wants right now, and it'll seem all porny instead of over protective, she assumed. She giggled as she leaned over to put her arms around his neck. She hadn't seen him much since her recovery and subsequent return to working, but even in a few moments here and there, they couldn't get enough of each other.

The combination of alcohol and the fact that there had been virtually no sex between the two since she was released from the hospital resulted in an extreme amount of flirting between the two. Meredith ran the tips of her fingers down Derek's forearm before leaning in to leave a drunken kiss upon his lips. Derek bit down lightly on her lip before she pulled away, Meredith giggling at him before swatting at him.

"You bit me!" she said in mock anger.

"Yeah, but you liked it," Derek replied with a smirk.

Joe smiled at them as he walked over and sat another set of drinks before them. "Ok, last one for you two lovebirds, we're closing soon and you two have had enough to drink."

"That's ok, we were just about to leave soon anyway," Derek said, watching Meredith as she took her last shot before lifting her up from her seat and pulled her close to him. He passed his credit card over before leaning down and brushing a kiss across her shoulder. As he leaned back up, he took a deep breath of Meredith and her scent. He turned back to Joe as he passed the card back to him.

"You two get home, I think you're disgusting my customers with all the affection," Joe said with a grin.

Meredith gave a small wave to Joe before throwing her arm around Derek's waist as they left the bar.
