My Best Friend's Wedding:
Ned's Declassified Style
Chapter One:
The Past and an Interesting Announcement
Everyone knew how she felt about him. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone. Even Loomer knew, for pity's sake. But, no matter how many times any of them tried to get her to tell him, they always failed. High school came and went, Ned and Moze's friendship stayed strong and flourished. Ned went through many girls; Moze went through many guys, neither of them ever really finding that special someone. But, during the college years all that changed…
Ring, ring! Ned Bigby rolled over in his bed and stared at the clock. "2:30," it read. He groaned irritably. Who would call him at 2:30 in the morning? He stared up at the caller ID. Jennifer Moseley. Hmm…suddenly Ned leapt out of bed and grabbed the phone.
"Hello?"
"Ned?" a female voice on the other end of the line said. Ned settled on his desk.
"Moze! Long time no talk," he greeted happily. Last year, the week of their college graduation was the last time they had spoken. He hadn't realized how much he missed her voice.
"Yeah, I know, so much has happened since then." 'Yeah, work, work, girlfriend, work…am I missing anything?' Ned thought, but didn't voice this.
"I know, a whole year," he said. He heard Moze laugh.
"Yeah…so anyway there's a reason I called you like this…I need to talk to you about something…" Ned was suddenly worried.
"You see…I met this guy, about five months ago and…we're getting married!" Her excited tone threw him off at first, until he realized what she had just said.
"What???" he exclaimed, falling off the edge of his desk and landing on the floor with a loud thump.
"Ned, you okay?" Moze asked. Ned sat up and grabbed the phone.
"I'm fine…you're what?"
"I'm getting married, Ned..."
Ned couldn't breathe. About an hour ago, his best friend had called him and told him she was getting married. And for some reason, he felt as if his heart had been ripped out and stomped on. Moze had invited him to the wedding, which was five days from now in a place call Cerritos in California. But just the fact that he was going to go there and see his best friend with another guy made him sick. He tried to explain that he couldn't come because his mother was having some event at her house, but Moze didn't buy it. Apparently, she had called his mother to get his number. Ned wanted more than anything to stay away, but, yet, he kept on packing his things. He drove all the way to the airport and boarded a plane, suddenly nervous beyond all reason.
A/N: I just saw the Woodshop episode today and was very annoyed by it...and I like this movie...I'll update as soon as possible.
