Just Relax

1/1

It took a few moments for the heady fog of sleep to clear. Then she realised that the reason her pillow was so hard was because it was a book, and that tapping on the window wasn't rain, it was the rather insistent tapping of someone outside. How no one else had heard she didn't understand. Shaking her head to clear it, she walked over to the window in the corner.

Opening the window as quietly as she could, "What are you doing Fred?"

"Nothing much," he grinned, "what you up to?"

"Sleeping," she said dryly.

"Tried that, didn't take," he said, "it's a beautiful night, so I thought I'd take the broom for a fly."

"Isn't that nice, well have fun," she said, going to close the window.

"Come with me," he said quickly.

"What?"

"Come with me," he repeated. "There is hardly a breeze to be felt, it's so calm and peaceful, absolutely nothing to be frightened off."

"I'm not frightened," she said, "I just don't like flying."

"Please?" he asked, "I won't let anything happen to you, why not?"

She knew she probably wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep now, and looking beyond his shoulder it did look inviting to a degree. Hermione also knew that Fred wouldn't let anything happen to her.

"Okay," she said quietly, "but you have to be careful."

"I promise," he maneuvered the broom closer to the sill for her to climb onto.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped over the ledge, sitting in front of him. Grateful for the arm that came around her waist, trying not to grab a hold too tightly.

"Relax," he said, and turned slightly, and flew away from her window.

It had been a long time since she had last been on a broom or anything like that, probably when they released Sirius. This was entirely different. Where last time she was terrified, this time she could relax. Whether it be the strong presence behind her, the smooth gentle turns; it was nothing at all like when she was on Buckbeak.

She loosened her grip on his arm slightly, relaxing to a degree as she leaned back against him. Fred was right, there was nothing to worry about, nothing was going to happen, it was actually rather enjoyable. The cool breeze in her face, and the view was spectacular, watching the lake beneath them on this clear, calm night. It was beautiful.

"Thank you Fred," she whispered, turning her head a little to look at him.

"My pleasure," he smiled, as he turned them back towards the Castle.
