Drabble #38: Marking

Summary: Where did you get that hickey Aeris?

The group didn't really think anything of it as Aeris walked out of the forest with her jacket zipped up. After all it was a cold night and the Cetra was known for taking regular walks when she wanted to think about things. They all assumed that was what she had done.

When Cloud appeared about five minutes later, they still didn't think anything of it as he was also known for taking nightly strolls. Besides, he came back with an armful of firewood, which made it even less suspicious.

Aeris took a seat beside Yuffie, immediately smiling at all her comrades as they continued whatever discussion they had been carrying before. Cloud dumped his load by the fire, catching Aeris' eye for a fraction of a second, his lips curling a little. It was so quick, nobody saw the interaction at all. They just saw Cloud drop the firewood and sit between Vincent and Nanaki.

Yuffie yawned and stretched, turning her eyes towards Aeris as she did. She wasn't sure why she had been drawn to look at the flower girl but as soon as she did, she found herself staring. There, on her neck was a clear marking that Yuffie recognised as a hickey.

The ninja moved into a sitting position, clearing her throat and still not looking away from Aeris. The older woman turned to her and was greeted with a smirk that made her nervous. Yuffie placed her chin in her hand in an almost mock thinking position.

"Where did you get that hickey Aeris?" she asked. It was asked in the way most women would ask about shoes, emphasising the 'did'. The whole group went silent and stared at the previously thought, innocent flower girl, who was blushing madly. Yuffie eyed the group carefully, seeing if they all held the same look of shock. They all did.

Except one.

Cloud had his head bowed, not looking in the direction at all but when Yuffie tilted her head, she could see how pink his cheeks were and gave a loud chuckle.

"Looks like we have a couple of horny teenagers," she joked, causing the two culprits to fidgit uncomfortably.

They never did live that night down...
