For Suze Simon, there were two things she was absolutely certain of.

One was that Spike was a terrible, evil kitty that shredded her homework.

The other was that her window would always be open.

So when she entered her bedroom after finishing most of her chores, Susannah was surprised to see (for the first time in the two years Jesse resided in her house) the window was shut tight.

She stood looking at it for a minute, and then put down her laundry basket.

She moved across the floor to unfasten the locks on the glass, and returned to her homework.

For a few minutes, it was as boring as a Naruto fan dub.

Then a gust of wind pushed the window to a closed state.

Suze was very puzzled.

Was the universe trying to tell her something?

But Suze was a very unruly girl. She never listened to outside messages. She especially hated ones given to her by Father Dominic. He ranked up with Paul Slater's words of wisdom.

So, once more, Suze tried to keep the window open.

This was a difficult job. She put a chair in from of the latches.

But, once again, a draft blew the chair over and the windows slammed together.

Suze was officially freaked out now.

Was Paul doing anything dark-shifter like? He had pulled another disappearing act at school. But Suze was pretty sure he just skipped class.

Suze pondered this. Paul couldn't have done it, his stalkery acts were creepy, granted, but they weren't at all boring. In fact, a week ago, he put a tiny video camera inside Suze's shower.

Suze had smashed the camera, and kicked Paul's perverted a-.

Apples. Suze had kicked Paul's apples.

Susannah Simon now understood that whether or not Paul was pulling a Houdini on the windows, she didn't sufficiently kick him hard enough.

That left about three people who could be doing the window flapping.

One was her dumber stepbrothers. They frequently pulled incredibly stupid pranks on her, like dumping her textbooks in the bath tub and dumping bugs in her sheets.

The second one was her more intelligent stepbrother, Doc. Suze was willing to bet that Doc was doing an experiment with the weather. He needs to get laid...

The very last one was simply very strong wind fronts.

But none of the choices were deep enough for a fanfiction, so Suze wrote them off.

Suze reached a dead end. This was puzzling.

Boredom ensued. She thought, and thought, and thought, but nothing came to her empty mind.

She paced her floors. Because walking in sequence apparently helps your brain function.

And then, as if a cracked light bulb had gone off in her head, Suze realized one crucial element in her room was missing.

Jesse.

In another realization moment (because the author is a lazy bitch) Suze walked over to the window, and undid the locks.

She pulled it open cautiously, and looked outside where she saw-

Hector de Silvia.

Floating outside, looking very sheepish.

"Ah," Jesse said tonelessly. "I thought you looked cold."

Well, Suze mused to herself.

This was lame.
