Violent sobs ravaged Rory's body as she sat in her car, just outside of Truncheon. She was gripping the steering wheel so tight, her knuckles were an inhuman white. The events that had just transpired ran rapidly through her mind.
Jess captured Rory's with his own. Rory quickly reciprocated the kiss with the same longing. After a few minutes, Rory breaks away.
" I'm sorry" She says quickly.
"About what?" Jess asked confused.
"Uh, about coming here like this. I just got the flyer, and, I don't know, I just wanted to see your place, but then - this. It's not fair to you, I'm such a jerk."
"I don't know what you're talking about." Jess replied.
"I couldn't even cheat on him the way he cheated on me."
"Who? Who cheated on you?" Jess asked seething. Then realization dawned on him, "That - guy?"
Rory nods sadly as Jess covers his face with his hand.
"You're still with him" Jess stated.
"Yeah."
"I thought everything was fixed."
"Everything but him" Rory stated sadly.
" I hate this!" Jess exclaimed.
"You should. I'm sorry"
"You came here alone. To Philadelphia." He pointed out.
"He was out of town"
"I don't deserve this, Rory."
"No, you don't! You don't deserve it! I just - I'm in love with him. Despite all the bad he's done, I can't help it. I'm in love with him."
Was it even love? Did she truly love Logan? How could she love some one so immature? Some one who cheated on her with an entire bridal party, for god sakes!
That's when it hit her; she didn't love Logan. Rory had merely tricked herself, her heart. The one person She'd ever loved challenged her. They'd had in depth conversations about music and books. Many arguments about Hemingway and Rand were shared between them. He was the one that made her realize the big mistake she'd made by dropping out of Yale. He was the man whose heart she'd just ripped out and stepped all over.
Rory let go of the steering wheel and opened the car door. Before she knew it she was banging on the front door of Truncheon. The first thing she saw were his eyes once he opened the door. They were so full of pain and hatred. The look in his eyes made her want to cry.
"I thought you left." He sounded pained.
Rory took a shaky breath before responding.
"In the car I realized something"
"And what's that?" Jess' curiosity got the better of him.
"It's you, it's always been you, Jess."
Jess couldn't believe his ears. Here was the girl of his dreams; the girl he's been in-love with since the first time he saw her, is here telling him it's him. What she means by it, he's not sure.
"What?"
" You're the one I want to be with and grow old together with. I want to have your kids. I just want to be with you."
"Is this some ploy to get back at Logan?" Jess spat his name with venom.
"This isn't about Logan! It's about you and me!" Rory screeched.
"Really?"
"Really."
"God Rory, I want there to be an us. But tell me, is he really out of the picture?"
"Already taken care of" Rory replied as she took a few steps towards Jess.
"Huh."
Jess closed the gap between them. The kiss started off slow but got more heated as time went on. They only separated when oxygen was absolutely necessary. Jess rested his forehead against hers.
"I'm in love with you." He whispered barely audible.
'I'm in love with you too" Rory said, matching his volume.
Rory leaned in and captured his lips with her own. Jess led Rory towards the stairs…
