A/N: Just a short new chapter to show that this story is back on. Hoping to have a full length chapter by next weekend (Happy Easter to those that celebrate lol) Anyway, on with the story...
"We used to be friends." His quiet voice startled her, as she hadn't heard him return from his patrol.
She turned to look at him, "I didn't hear you come in." Raven replied in carefully moderated tones.
"You used to talk to me," He continued as if she hadn't spoken. "I thought that you trusted me." Nightwing stepped from the shadows of the doorway and into the fully illuminated kitchen area.
"I did," Raven tried to look behind his mask, but once again she was unable to read him. "I do."
"Maybe," He gave a half shrug and moved to the fridge for a bottle of water; he took a moment to take a drink and collect his thoughts, which had scattered when she looked at him. "It seems you didn't trust me, at least it seems as though you trusted others more."
"He needed someone," Raven bit out and then snapping her teeth together to cut off any other words, but at the look on his face she couldn't help but add to her defense. "He needed me, I couldn't just leave him to suffer alone." She hated that he made her feel ashamed for the help she had given to Speedy.
Nightwing slammed the bottled drink onto the counter, causing a spray of water to shoot over the cabinets and himself. "He needed you." His voice was calm, a direct contrast to how he felt. He felt his hands tremble with the urge to shake her until she understood what she had done to him...to all of them. "What about the rest of us? What about me?"
Raven felt a smile whisper across her mind as memories tumbled gently over one another. "You never needed me Richard, you may have wanted me, but you've never needed me."
"If that is what you think, you're not as smart as I thought." He reached out beside her, causing her to flinch back slightly at not only his nearness, but the bite to his words. He grabbed the towel from the oven door and began to wipe off his arm and the cabinets. "We leave in the morning, I put a change of clothes and a pack in your room. It will be better to travel incognito for awhile, considering the circumstances."
Feeling dismissed and slightly bruised Raven just nodded and left the room.
Slapping the towel on the counter Nightwing ran a still shaking hand through his hair.
"Let her go, just let her go." He muttered to himself, even while he began to make plans.

Somehow, through avoidance and outright ignoring each other, they had made it through the evening before and were now headed towards Jump City.
Despite Raven's argument that she could fly better and faster than he could drive, she was a passenger with hands fisted beneath her cloak as he took the turns at reckless speeds.
"You know," She began; sarcasm causing her voice to take on a razors edge. "If we can't make it there alive, there really isn't much point in going."
"What?" He had been trying so hard to ignore her presence that she startled him when she spoke.
"You might want to slow down before you miss a turn." She replied dryly, as if it didn't take every ounce of her will power not to clench her eyes shut and pray for it all to be over.
"Oh, I forgot." Nightwing let his foot off the gas a little; he had quite honestly forgotten how much she hated riding in a vehicle. He remembered the nightmares she had had about being trapped in the twisted metal of their first vehicle, the T-car. A silly fear for someone who could pass through anything with a little thought. "I didn't know cars still bothered you."
"Cars don't bother me," Raven denied coldly, forcing her hands to relax.
"Uh-huh" He snorted with a sideways glance at her before continuing the trip in silence.
