"Knowing Ryo"

Everyone knew the name Ryo Marufuji of the Obelisk Blue House. Girls adored him for his good looks, guys admired him for his perfection in dueling, and Professors favored him for his superior intelligence.

Everyone who knew Ryo Marufuji, knew him as one whose presence was above everyone else's. There was a dignified aura about him that demanded utmost respect and reverence which most people would oblige. Even in his first year, most people already knew that he was going to conquer the school some day and become someone that everybody would look up to.

Despite his popularity, Ryo was never the type of person who would hang around and talk to people all day. He would prefer to be by himself despite the number of students following him around as if they were his posse. He had no interest in girls despite the huge number of them sending him gifts, letters and whatnots. His time for them is limited unless it involved cards and dueling.

Everyone knew the name Ryo Marufuji of Duel Academia. Students from schools competing against them feared his dueling prowess and professional duelists looked forward to the day he would turn pro. People from the Duel Monster Card Industry knew that this boy would someday become someone who would reach for the Duel King's title.

His face always wore the same expression: stoic and serious. His smiles were rare and his eyes were cold and uncaring. He held himself up with confidence and dignity but knew how to keep himself humble and show humility.

Everyone who knew him respected him. And everyone who saw him, were in awe of him. To them, he was above everyone, above everything. He was superior, he was perfection, he was – the Kaiser.

Asuka Tenjoin knew the name Ryo Marufuji. Though many treated him as some sort of royalty, to her, she was simply "Ryo", her brother's bestfriend. Despite everyone's belief of him being cold and distant, for her, Ryo was the warmest person, second only to her brother.

When she was in despair, he offered her comfort. When she was disheartened, he gave her words of encouragement. And when she was troubled, he gave her advice that was wise beyond their age.

He smiled at her often, something which she enjoyed all to herself. His warm smiles were reflected in his eyes as he looked at her. He showered her with undivided attention and would prefer her company above everyone else's. He had tried to take her brother's place, even if it was only temporary, but he could never really fit that part. He was not just as goofy as the real thing. Asuka laughed at this thought.

Alone with him by the lighthouse almost everyday, he was neither an elite, nor was he perfection, nor was he Kaiser. To Asuka, there was a different feeling that emanated from him, one that was never seen by other people. There was a feeling of comfort and of silent understanding between them. She treasured that feeling that she knew could only come from the boy named Ryo Marufuji.

A/N: Okay, my first shot at a decent Yugioh GX fanfic. Hmm… this is kinda short, huh? Anyway, I'm a RyoxAsuka and Fubuki fan so my next stories would definitely revolve around them.
