Just My Luck

by RabbitDork101

Summary- Gabriella feels like her life is in the pits. The only thing that is actually going right is her relationship with Troy. Taylor isn't talking to her, the musical is over, her mom is marrying some guy, and on top of it all, she has to walk home from school and it's raining.

SLAM!

Gabriella shut her locker, as hard as she could. "Sorry honey, can't give you ride after school, Jon's taking me out." She said mimicking her mother. She had stayed after to get some information from her science teacher about her project and had missed all the busses. She probably could've gone to the gym and watch the basketball team practice, but Taylor would most likely be there.

Still fresh in her mind she remembered the fight she and Taylor had had over the meetings of the Decathlon team, it had interfered with her musical rehearsals, you know the one she had worked so hard to get her in. Well, anyways, they weren't talking at the moment.

Troy, being great boyfriend he is, offered her a ride home with him and his dad, but she declined. She didn't quite understand why, but she was too mad to think about it right now. She stared out the front doors of the school, silently debating if she should go to the gym to see if she could still get that ride. Sighing softly, she slowly picked her backpack and walked off to the gym, but when she got there it was empty.

"Great, just my luck." she said and stalked off to the front doors and walked out into the pouring rain. As she was walking down the sidewalk, she slipped and fell into a puddle. Gabriella could feel the tears coming and just let them come. In the puddle, there just happened to be a piece of glass, which slice her hand and leg pretty well. Examining her newly formed cuts, she stood up and tried to put weight on her cut leg, but soon cried out in pain. She limped over to a near by tree and leaned up against it. Pulling out her cell phone, she tried calling Troy, but she got no answer. Boy, of all the rotten luck, she thought.

So she just sat there, repeatedly calling Troy and her mom, but no one answered. She soon gave up and just sat in the rain. Gabriella had tried a few times to stand up on her leg that was injured, but it was no use it hurt to much. About 15 minutes later, she heard a car pull up. She ignored it. She was tired, cold, and in pain. "Gabi?" she heard her name. Too weak to answer, she just lied there. The person soon pulled her into a comforting hug.

"Tr- troy?" she managed to get out, but her voice was extremely hoarse.

"Shhh... it's ok." Troy said, stroking her soaked hair, then he gently picked her up and carried her to his car. After he set her down, he took his jacket off and placed it on her like a blanket. Once they were both in the car, Troy asked, "What happened? My dad had said my cell phone kept ringing, I was in the shower, but I didn't think anything of it when there was no message."

"Well," she cleared her throat, "I had walked back to the gym to see if I could still get a ride from you, but you must have been it the locker room. I should have stuck around, but I started to walk home. I slipped and fell in a puddle and there was some glass in it, and cut my leg and hand." Troy glanced at the cut on her leg and hand and winced. They looked painful. "Then, after trying to call you and my mom, I gave up."

"I'm so sorry Gabi." he said kissing her forehead.

"It's ok, you rescued me." Gabriella said, giggling slightly. They leaned in and kissed. "Wow, this the best luck I've had all day." They both laughed, and then Troy drove her home.
