Riku sat on his bed, staring at the ceiling, holding the charm Namine gave to him. It was a charm of a shining star, without even one detail missing.

'No way," he thought to himself. 'Tonight did not just happen…. Did it?'

------------------------------------------

Namine sat a on a small sandbar near the waves of the ocean.

She felt the wind through her hair, and sighed. She continued her drawing.

"yo." Said a voice behind Namine's back. She let out a yelp of surprise.

"oh Riku You startled me!" Namine said sheepishly.

Riku simply smiled at her. Suddenly a large gust of wind brewed, and Namine's Sketchbook flew like a speck of dust.

Riku grabbed it before it could get any farther Than it was.

He handed it back to her, and she smiled. "oh look!" she said, and pointed to the sky.

There were more stars than grains of sand on the entire beach.

Each one had it's own quality.

The two teens stared at the night sky peacefully.

Namine's eyes were on the sky, but Riku's eyes were on Namine.

He could have sworn he saw every star shine in Namine's eyes. Until Namine turned to Riku, and asked him a question, nobody in the world would ask him.

"Riku, if you were a star, what kind would you be?"

That question struck him hard, because he honestly didn't understand.

So he simply responded "Huh?" 'ugh. Real smooth A-hole.' Riku thought to himself.

"you know." Namine replied, looking to the stars. "strong stars, weak stars, stars of light and darkness, there are so many different kinds." She turned back to him. "which kind would you be?"

Riku turned to the other side. "I don't know." Riku said. "I never really thought about it.

What about you?" he asked.

"I wouldn't be one." Namine said.

"what?" Riku said.

"stars need to have a center where there heart is." Namine replied, reaching for a handful

Of nearby sand. "and I don't have a heart remember? I'm not meant to exist." She said, letting the sand slip through her fingers.

Riku couldn't let her say that.

He jerked over her and hugged her, a small gasp was released from Namine's lips.

Riku fiddled with Namine's hair.

"…That doesn't matter." Riku whispered in her ear.

"stars can rely on the power of the stars around them. If they just have faith."

And with that, their lips met.

Namine was completely red, and Riku's eyes avoided Namine's face.

"you would be a faith star." Namine said. "a star that helps those believe.

Some people call them wishing stars."

Namine reached into her pocket, and pulled out a charm with a star on it.

"arigato, shinrai hoshi."

She placed the charm in Riku's hand, and kissed him on the cheek.

Riku blushed at her, as she wished him goodnight, and walked off the beach.

------------------------------------------

'did this really happen?' Riku asked himself again.

He gasped as a shooting star was reflected on Namine's charm.

He smiled.

"I guess it really did happen." He answered himself.

And silently, Riku, the shinrai hoshi fell asleep.
