Sometimes I wonder about the way I feel about Iruka. I know I love him with everything I am, but it hurts sometimes to love someone so unconditionally, when they don't know you exist.
I've tried to make him understand by just speaking with him, but each time I try to say "I love you." I say "Naruto's improving." Then we discuss about Naruto's improvement while I keep trying to say the three words that are stuck in my throat and won't come out.
Then he smiles, and it hurts, because he smiles for Naruto and not for me.
I've tried to show him affection, but when I try to hold onto him all I do is poke him on the shoulder . He thinks I'm just teasing him and all he does is giggle and poke me back. Then everything stops and we just sit their in silence.
I've tried to give him gifts as well, but each time I hand it to him I ask, "So, do you think so and so will like it?" He gives it back and says "What ever you give them, they'll love because it's from you." I still have so many dolphin plushies in my closet.
I've even tried writing him a note, but when he reads it, it says: "Sorry my mission report is messy today, Have a nice day!" And I watch him through the window as he smiles and puts it in his pocket. He works very hard for the rest of the day.
I've tried to make him understand, but I can't .
"Kakashi?" I look to Iruka who's sitting next to me, by the river. We agreed to talk a bit before we both have to go are separate ways and do are daily jobs.
"Yeah."
"Well…" he blushes, "I've been trying to say this for a while now…"
