Demyx sat in his room in Castle Oblivion, staring out the window toward the night sky and the twinkling stars. He thought about how Xemnas constantly reminded him and the other Nobodies that they didn't have hearts. But if that was true, thought the blonde as he adjusted his black Organization XIII robe and leaned his elbows on the sill, then why did he seem to feel a pang of…well, something in his chest whenever he saw Axel, his fellow Organization member?

As if summoned by the blonde's thoughts, Axel swept by in the hallway, glancing into Demyx's room briefly before continuing to wherever he was going. Demyx looked up and caught the tips of Axel's spiky red hair and ends of his black robe identical to Demyx's just swishing out of sight. He immediately felt the pang in his chest again and sighed. He didn't know what this feeling was, or even if it was a feeling. But he knew it definitely had something to do with Axel.

Demyx turned around to watch for Axel in case he walked past again. Sure enough, a few minutes later, he did. This time when Axel glanced into the room, his emerald green eyes met Demyx's sapphire blue ones. Demyx felt the pang once more, thought to himself that this could in no way be good for his health, and then allowed his mouth to drop open slightly when Axel stopped walking past the room and turned to enter it.

Demyx froze up when Axel reached him. He was unsure of what was about to happen. Then, Axel said, "Hey, Demyx. What's up?"

Demyx exhaled softly and looked up at the tall redhead. "Not much, Axel. What about you?" He congratulated himself on not allowing the pang he kept feeling to interfere with his speech.

"Eh, same," Axel said, then leaned next to Demyx to put his elbows on the windowsill, much like Demyx had done before. The redhead's side had brushed Demyx's arm, and the blonde felt the pang stronger than he had felt it before. "It's a beautiful view from this window. I'm jealous," Axel said, turning to smile at Demyx.

Demyx blushed and nodded, then turned back around to face out the window and lean slightly in towards Axel.

"Hey, Demyx?" Axel asked after a few moments of silence.

"Yes?" Demyx answered.

"Did you ever…well, this is kind of a stupid question…nevermind," Axel trailed off.

"No, what?" Demyx prompted.

"Did you ever have this…feeling in your chest?"

Demyx blinked. Was it possible for Axel to be experiencing the same thing he was?

Axel misunderstood Demyx's silence and said, "Nevermind. I told you it was a dumb question."

"No, I think…I know what you mean. It's right here," Demyx said, pointing to the spot on himself under which his heart would have rested.

Axel turned to look where Demyx was pointing, and upon seeing it his eyes brightened and he nodded. "You get it too?"

Demyx nodded. "Whenever I see you," he said, then immediately regretted it.

Axel gave Demyx a strange look that Demyx couldn't interpret. Then, he leaned over towards Demyx and lightly touched his lips to the blonde's. Demyx pulled away slightly at first, then felt the pang again. He leaned back into Axel as the redhead deepened the kiss, having pulled his elbows off the windowsill to wrap his arms around the blonde and pull him up from the chair. Demyx draped his arms gingerly around Axel's hips and moaned softly as Axel gently brushed his fingers up and down Demyx's spine.

After a few more moments, the two broke apart and looked into each other's eyes. Demyx managed a small smile and Axel reached up to run a hand through Demyx's hair.

"Do you think Xemnas is telling the truth about us not having hearts, Axel?" Demyx asked.

"I don't know, Demyx," Axel said. "But if we do have them…" he paused. "Then you stole mine," Axel concluded, and lowered his mouth to the blonde's once more.
